Walked out of cinema mid movie

Took my dd to see the secrets of dumbledore. Really didn't enjoy it, wasn't our thing and the cinema was boiling on top of that, I was burning up and so uncomfortable. Daughter agreed she wasn't enjoying the film so we walked out about 45 minutes into it (discreetly I hope). Both agreed once out that we had no idea what was going on, the storyline was difficult to follow.

Obviously we were home early and my husband was outraged (no exaggeration) that we had paid money to see a film and walked out mid way. He said it's rude and a waste of money and not teaching my dd anything Confused I think he's mad and considering this particular film is 2.5 hours long, I'd rather not sit and bear it.

Made me laugh .... literally just home after seeing this movie with teenage Ds, he woke me up , reckon I snoozed for at least half an hour , hope the actors weren't offended 😂
I Quite enjoyed the second half.....

Agree with others not rude. I have also walked out of a film

It was Moulin Rouge for me. I even regret wasting the 30 minutes I did watch.

It’s not rude. You might have been going to do a poo poo.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 13/04/2022 23:49

It's not rude but I've just taken my 9yo to see it and we really enjoyed it. But if you're not enjoying it then why not

Girlmumdogmumboymum · 13/04/2022 23:50

Saw if today, thought it was shit. I've seen another fantastic beasts film. Although not something I'd choose myself I quite enjoyed the other one I watched.

Was sad for DD as she was really looking forward to it.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 13/04/2022 23:50

Oh and to add we hadn't seen the first two Grin but we will do now

PyongyangKipperbang · 13/04/2022 23:52

I wonder if the VM is one of those things that you either get or you dont. Money is very tight for me so I wouldnt want to risk not enjoying my one treat.

DontStopMeNow7 · 13/04/2022 23:54

@NotTheOW

How I'd it rude? It's not live theatre. Dumbledore can't see you.
This is the funniest comment ever

He’s a wizard. Of COURSE he can see her! Thru his sneakoscope.

OP and her DD are spectacularly rude and can expect a howler any day.

IDontHaveAnOutingHobby · 13/04/2022 23:58

I thought it was ok
missing Johny Depp I thought

KimikosNightmare · 14/04/2022 00:02

@FangsForTheMemory

I've walked out of a couple of films: one was so gruesome I was near to fainting, the other was 'Clerks' and it was rubbish.

Don't see why it would be considered rude. It's not as if the actors know you are walking out.

I really enjoyed Clerks. I've left several films early, for reasons of boredom and like you gruesome e.g

The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and her Lover, the original German version of Funny Games and Darren Aronofsky's Mother come to mind.

Benjispruce4 · 14/04/2022 00:04

I can concur that The Vagina Monologues were absolutely awful. Having the C word shouted at you is not big and it’s not clever!

LibbyL92 · 14/04/2022 00:07

I went to see pretty woman this evening.

The theatre was roasting. I saw 3 different couples walk out part way through.

I did wonder what the reasons were. But overall the show was great. It was bloody hot though

SocksAndTheCity · 14/04/2022 00:10

@Benjispruce4

YANBU we’ve walked put of a couple of films and a play at the interval. Time is too precious.
That just reminded me I walked out of the Amelie musical (discreetly and at the interval) last summer. It went from incomprehensible to just plain painful and if I could have sneaked out sooner I would have.

I think the wobblycam film is Cloverfield (which I loved, but it made me car sick) 😀

KimikosNightmare · 14/04/2022 00:14

@Doggirl

Never walked out of a film, but I did once throw a novel across the room with "Oh FFS!" (Death of Grass). Book stayed there a few weeks. Then there was the self-styled 'protest group' spouting such bollox at a small festival that I wanted to walk out. Thing is that I was pedalling the bike-powered amplifier, and I didn't want to draw that much attention that the sound going dead would have. But the person who took over from me wasn't a strong cyclist, so it went a bit quieter anyway. Bik
I've just read Death of Grass. I quite enjoyed it. But yes, the moment in one's life when you realise it's ok to not finish a book is so empowering.
Mamabananananana · 14/04/2022 00:15

Im a HP fan and never made it through the second instalment, so im not surprised you left.
I nearly walked out of Dreamgirls ( the whole auditorium was groaning every time someone started to pointlessly sing, and it became a laugh that saved it) and Everest. At one point i askes loudly- shall i just Wikipedia what happened next?

Luckily I've only ever watched that at home. I've fallen asleep every time. I think between all the times I've tried to watch it I've probably seen the whole thing, just not all in one go. Easter Grin
Rhannion · 14/04/2022 00:16

I walked out of Dune after an hour as it was boring. It’s not like the actors can see you, so why waste your time.

ComeSailAway · 14/04/2022 00:17

If you aren't enjoying the film, you have already wasted your money.

Forcing youself to sit through it is just wasting your time as well.

Weatherwax13 · 14/04/2022 00:29

I've walked out of a couple. Or alternatively fallen asleep when it's something DH really wants to see and I don't want to spoil it for him.
Why sit through something tedious? It's meant to be a treat, not a punishment.
I strongly suspect your DH was pissed off that you came home early.

I stuck it to the end - my heart sank after the first 5 minutes when I realised they were filming it line for line from the book. I should have left but thought the people I was with were enjoying it.
WonderfulYou · 14/04/2022 00:39

😂😂😂

I don’t care how rubbish a film is no way am I leaving half way through when it costs a fortune to go.

I do often get lost during films but then I pick it back up again later on.

I would have stuck it out personally.
I hope your DD did actually want to leave and didn’t do it just because you wanted to.

movingsoon13 · 14/04/2022 00:41

I don't blame you honestly, my little sister and her friend went to see the film yesterday and said they nearly walked out because it was so disappointing, they had seen all of the other ones and said it was probably the worst one yet.
