The book or books that bring back comforting and happy memories.

Mine are Magic Faraway Tree, Mallory Towers and St Clares, all by Enid Blyton.

What are yours?

The Three Golliwogs was my 70's childhood first favourite. It was different times. Followed by Ballet Shoes and then the Chalet School series.

I can’t remember the title but I loved the story of a teddy bear that accidentally got thrown out with the rubbish & his adventures. I read it over & over.

At various points through childhood:
Puddle lane series
Faraway tree
Wishing chair
Famous five
Secret seven
(There's an Enid blyton theme emerging)
Carrie's war
Goodnight Mr Tom
Ballet shoes - loved this
Harry potter series
Babysitters club

I'm surprised how many times I've seen the babysitters club referenced in this thread, noone i knew at school read this series! My sister had the subscription box so I used to stand over her until she'd read the latest one Grin

My eldest DC is 4 and is really interested in books, I'm excited for him for all the literature he gets to read for the first time Grin

A Little Princess - oh how I hated that headteacher!

AntarcticTern · 13/04/2022 21:48

@SunshineLollipopsAndRainbows was it Teddy Robinson?

DanielRicciardosSmile · 13/04/2022 21:48

Does anyone remember the Teddy Robinson books? Short stories about a teddy bear who had a liking for purple dresses (among other things), and his owner, Debra.

I had these in a boxed set when I was about 5 or 6, but no one else seems to have heard of them.

AntarcticTern · 13/04/2022 21:49

All Judy Blume's books were great for me, also and the 'Sweet Valley High' collection, it was cheesy. I was fantasising about living in the US.
