The book or books that bring back comforting and happy memories.

Mine are Magic Faraway Tree, Mallory Towers and St Clares, all by Enid Blyton.

What are yours?

Yes, YABU.

But if you'd not asked in AIBU, I'd say I loved Eagle of the Ninth (and most of her books), Lucy M. Boston, Alison Uttley's A Traveller in Time, Cynthia Harnett's The Wool Pack and A Load of Unicorn. Alan Garner's The Stone Book Quartet and Joan Aiken's Wolves of Willoughby Chase (and her short stories).

I'm going to so look forward to reading them to DD. In terms of nostalgic reading for her - it's got to be Donald Hall's The Ox-Cart Man. I don't know why but it always makes me want to cry. I read it over and over when she was crazy about it, and I never got through it without getting that little prickle of tears.

I just love children's books, though.

@theDudesmummy

Oh and Ballet Shoes
Ooh that too. I spent hours tracing the illustrations in my book and colouring them in. I adored Posy.

@SarahAndQuack you've just reminded me of The Weirdstone of the Brisingamen. Another book I was obsessed with. That one scene still gives me claustrophobia though!

I'm stepping away now before i remember any more!

The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, and the rest of the series. Must've reread them so many times.

Also Charlie and the Chocolate factory and Boy by Roald Dahl.

And going back further, Peter Rabbit which apparently I could recite in full at the age of 3, possibly I still could....
