To not think Aylesbury is the worst town in the UK.

I mean. It’s not the best place in the UK, but hardly the worst!

I grew up in Oxford, I’d say blackbird leys and Witney are worse.

I’ve visited Luton and driven through Slough.

I’ve lived in Aylesbury for 12 years, and other than the traffic, it’s not that much of a bad place! Having read an article about someone stabbed in MK recently, it got me wondering why on Earth it’s so awful!

I live in one of the top five worst towns to live. It’s not actually that bad. I think the only people who vote for these things actually don’t live in the towns.

Was there for a wedding a couple of years ago. The proceedings enlivened by the - very pleasant and peaceful - chaps drinking and urinating in the graveyard! Yet it is Silicon Fen so there must be money sloshing about...

This is absolutely standard behaviour in our local graveyard in Islington, often by the people with the money Grin

instead the moment we parked up we saw a naked busker being wrestled in to a police car screaming, and another ‘interesting’ fellow just standing outside Savers screaming his head off. A lot of the shops felt rundown and had the usual mix of crappy discount places and nice independent coffee shops and organic grocers. The church gardens stank of weed and had a couple of chaps knocking back beers at 10am.

This all makes Stroud sound much more interesting to me!

I wonder if because it's basically the people who live in the town self selecting those of us who live in northern towns with bad reputations just want to big them up whereas those in affluent towns in the south are always comparing to the more affluent town a few miles away. As I said previously Middlesbrough is the most deprived town in the country but in a recent thread everyone who lives in the north east is very proud of the region. It's very beautiful, full of history and because of the deprivation the cost of living is low.

Aylesbury is far from the worst town.

Slough and Luton are far worse and Peterborough is pretty shit too.

I once knew a bloke who lived in Luton and worked in Slough. He was a miserable bastard, but who could blame him?
