So Boris and Rishi both been issed Fixed Penalty Notices for attending illegal gatherings.

Maybe we'll get the Sue Gray report now.

If Boris is allowed to stay then we need to realise the message we are sending to our children
We are saying it's OK to lie and cheat to get what you want and there are no real consequences if you are found out.
Not good

Schmoana · 13/04/2022 07:54

The met police have timed this to help him out too - done during parliamentary recess. Like when they stepped in to save him from the sue grey report.

And only fining for one incident on his birthday when we know there were many more.

He should resign for lying to HoC but he does that week in week out at the despatch box and never corrects the record.

I actually think the Owen Paterson issue showed him up in a worse light - Tory MP clearly breaks rules and gets pathetic punishment - but instead of taking punishment Johnson decided to try to break up the independent standards committee and replace it with a tory standards committee.

He’s an out and out con. I’m so depressed that he’s still getting away with it Sad

It isn't good, but it seems to be the truth.

The old convention about ministers having to resign if they were found to have misled the house no longer seems to apply. Priti Patel lied to Parliament and didn't resign, now Boris and Rishi will just brazen it out as well.

It's hugely damaging to our democracy, but people find Boris funny while Keir Starmer is a bit dull, so apparently we just have to stop making a fuss about it.

Schmoana · 13/04/2022 08:04

MPs used to resign when they got found out but not this government - they just gaslight instead

Agree. We might as well all just piss about in life and at work and lie and deceive and not take rules seriously as we all see the PM get away with it. It's ok to be shit. Yipee!
itsgettingweird · 13/04/2022 08:07

Interestingly enough I'm finding the younger generation more vocal about how awful what Boris has done is. Much more so than those who are benefitting from their financial ways.

My ds and his friends are all 17/18. They get to vote soon.

The changing of the tides could come from the younger generation who, seem to have quite strong morals about lying and who are the future generation of employees and want to see that working for money affords them some kind of lifestyle and they don't just work to just about survive.

Thedogscollar · 13/04/2022 08:16

A liar and a criminal is running our country. This is official and a known fact for a long time now.

Why would ANYONE want to be governed by a criminal?

Very true unfortunately
SilkenBunny · 13/04/2022 08:40

All I seem to keep hearing are Tory apologists. On R4 in particular.

He'll get away with it, the twat.

SleeplessInEngland · 13/04/2022 08:41

The Mail's front page headline today: "Don't They Know There's a War On??"

As I said, it'll be right-wing newspapers that decide when he's booted out, no-one else. At the moment they've decided they still want him around.

CHIRIBAYA · 13/04/2022 08:52

But they are delivering for the people! Evidenced by:
NHS - not fit for purpose
GPs - leaving in droves
Energy supply - screwed
The judiciary - not fit for purpose
Schools (excluding private of course) - not fit for purpose
Teachers - leaving in droves
Housing market - completely dysfunctional
Childcare - unaffordable for many
University Fees - Among the highest in the world
Public transport - not fit for purpose
Community - no longer required as the individual reigns supreme
Social Care - disintegrating
The Police Force - over stretched, over stressed and under funded
Family Courts - not fit for purpose
Child Safeguarding - not fit for purpose

Have I missed anything?

ChristmasCurry · 13/04/2022 09:02

In a democracy, the people get the government they deserve.

Boris showed the country who he was again and again but still people voted for him and Brexit - hope he stays to May 2024 !

SierpinskiSquare · 13/04/2022 09:24

@ilovesooty

He lied to Parliament. He should go.
Exactly. He has nothing but contempt for parliament and for the British public. He should be thrown out. Not sure who could replace him though Hmm
girlmom21 · 13/04/2022 09:25

At the moment your options to replace him are Dominic Raab, Priti Patel, Sajid Javid or Michael Gove. Lovely.

^^ Totally agree with this.

And there are all the other incidents of sleaze too:

And they conveniently forget the war isn't in Britain!

And that the war is being raged by a dictator and all this ignoring the PM law breaking and excusing his lying and the bills against protests are turning Boris and our politics towards dictatorship and away from democracy.

There is a kind of poetic justice Grin
ChicCroissant · 13/04/2022 10:45

Both Johnson and Sunak should go - I think Sunak is more likely to resign, and not just because of the fines but the non-dom issue as well. However, if he goes and quotes the fine as a reason, there will be more pressure on Johnson so for the first time, Johnson is probably desperate for Sunak to stay at No 11!

HRTQueen · 13/04/2022 11:03

Of course he should resign but he won’t when has he done the home table thing and neither will the conservatives push him to as there isn’t a leader to replace him yet

Many voters don’t care they know what he is like there are bigger issues to deal with and come the next election it’s old news
