in August? DC will be 15 and 18. After 2 years of no holidays, I don't even know where to start looking. Would love some inspiration from others.

We are going to Mexico.

Glitterbiscuits · 10/04/2022 18:08

What's the budget? What do the teens like doing?

SilverGlitterBaubles · 10/04/2022 18:13

Villa with own pool somewhere hot and sunny. We can do beach days with or without them, go out early leave them to lie in.

Frenchfancy · 10/04/2022 18:15

Crete. One week in a SC villa and one week AI.

ACandleOnAGinBottle · 10/04/2022 18:19

Teens will enjoy some organised activities like paddle boarding, maybe learning to surf, but they'll also want to just hang around by a pool and be on their phones and have drinks on tab.

Vancouver, Yellowstone park and Warner and Universal studios, which they're very excited about. Haven't been out of the country for 3 years!

justaweeone · 10/04/2022 18:27

18 and 24 year olds, still want to come on holiday with us so that's a bonus( might be because we pay!)
Villa in Spain with pool
Easy laid back hol, Dh and I often gonout for breakfast while they sleep in or we eat together. Some nights in,( they often cook)
Out some others as a family, just really go with the flow.

Nothappyatwork · 10/04/2022 18:30

We are going to Disney because I have a young-ish teenager and a 20-year-old who still love it and every time we go we discover something new and we can never do everything that we want and just a fortnight. I also quite like the variety they can spend a couple of hours playing by the pool making friends with other people but we always have plans too so not too much lounging around.

hopperrock · 10/04/2022 18:43

We're going to Languedoc in France with teens aged 18 and 15, we have a villa with a pool to laze around, will do odd days of exploring Beziers, Carcassonne, Narbonne and the National park / Pyrenees for walking. But mostly swimming in the pool, eating, drinking and reading.

ACandleOnAGinBottle · 10/04/2022 18:47

@hopperrock that sounds appealing. How did you find your accommodation?

Hurricane season and potentially horrific sargassum. Make sure you're aware before considering it.
ShanghaiDiva · 10/04/2022 18:51

We are going to North Wales with dd who is 16.
We lived overseas for 25 years and are enjoying exploring the UK.
For overseas in August: central Vietnam or Bali?

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 10/04/2022 18:54

We took our slightly younger teens down Vietnam, across the Mekong Delta, then up through Cambodia. We finished with a week in Bali for the beach experience. Our dc loved it.

My eldest is just about to graduate, and like all third year university students has had her ability to backpack somewhat curtailed. She is very grateful she had the opportunity to visit ‘Gap Yah’ countries, albeit with family rather than friends.

pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 10/04/2022 19:12

This will sound really stupid, but...have you asked them what their plans are? the 18yo might not want a family holiday and might want to go "tenting" in a field with some mates...
talk to them, ask for suggestions - this might be your last full family h

hopperrock · 10/04/2022 19:18

@ACandleOnAGinBottle

I came across this site and booked one of their gites

www.midihideaways.com/

And then discovered that you can fly direct to Carcassonne from E Midlands airport, which is handy for us as we have family near there.

MatildaTheCat · 10/04/2022 19:21

At that age we did villa holidays in places they could go out and about and we had some peace. Also a California road trip and a resort activity holiday we all enjoyed. Main thing is having something for everyone.

Girlmumdogmumboymum · 10/04/2022 19:22

Universal is our next trip. We were a strictly Disney only family pre pandemic, she's grown older, so time for a bit of a change of scenery for something a bit more catered to her age range

Ohhelpicantthinkofaname · 10/04/2022 19:24

Teens 17 and 14. We are going to Corfu. They can go off around the resort if they wish. There’s water sports and things for them to do. They also like just exploring the local area and eating nice food with us. Can’t wait.

MushroomHunter · 10/04/2022 19:29

We’re taking the teens to Turkey this year. Plenty for them to do and food that they like. Doing a mixture of sightseeing and beach.

callmehendricks · 10/04/2022 19:35

Our successes have been:
Californian road trip
All inclusive in the Caribbean (or elsewhere would work)
Barbados: two villas for 4 families with similarly aged kids. Lots water sports.
French Alps: chalet, 3 families, outdoor pursuits.

Wazzzzzuuuuuuup · 10/04/2022 20:40

We are doing 3 Nts in Naples and a week in an Airbnb in Sorrento with a private pool. We're doing Vesuvius, Pompeii, Herculaneum and then having some lazy days and exploring the Sorrento and Amalfi coast by car. Three DCs will be 16,17,19. We love Italian food and exploring and also chilling somewhere beautiful. We will eat out or take turns to cook/eat bread, cheese and meats.

I suspect we only have this year and next year to holiday with them all in this way.

Next year we are debating either USA (Orlando, New Orleans and Florida Keys) or a cruise. All inclusive cruising works well for teens as often varied entertainment, good food, drinks and ice cream on tap.

Panicmode1 · 10/04/2022 20:45

We usually do a villa in the south of France with a pool. This year we are going to northern Spain to a villa with a pool! It's close to various activities (canyoning, potholing, paddle boarding, sailing, cycling and riding) so hopefully there will be a good mixture of culture, activity and chilling by the pool.

(We looked at Turkey, Italy, Mexico, Namibia,Caribbean, Sri Lanka, Thailand...but there are 6 of us, with our youngest only 11 and poss not vacced ×2 due to just having had Covid, we wanted to keep it fairly easy!).

Diditreallylookawful · 10/04/2022 20:52

Scandinavia

TeeBee · 10/04/2022 21:48

I'm taking mine to the Greek Islands for a week and to Portugal for a week (villas both times). Planning on doing some island hopping while we're in Greece.
They've just been to Mexico to see family, but did lots of water sports. which they loved. Eldest also doing a tour of Croatia. One currently in France out in the sticks and one skiing in Italy. I suspect they'll love all of those breaks for different reasons.

Karwomannghia · 10/04/2022 21:53

Skiathos- small hotel with a pool, easy to reach places and old buildings, waterspouts and warm sea and a day trip to mama Mia island!
We’d planned to do the US but it sounds really hot in august and potentially lots of travelling and we couldn’t agree on what to do exactly!! Also have read bad reviews on here.
