To be annoyed that people have not come to collect stuff I put on freecycle?

I've put 3 quite decent baby items on freecycle and had loads of people wanting them. I chose the 2 people I thought should have them, and neither of them have turned up, they have let me down once before and this is now the second time we have arranged for them to pick up, and now they've not turned up again.

aaaargh!

This annoys me too - started a similar thread a while back. To be honest I don't mind if people are going to sell stuff as if I could be bothered I would do although I do try and pick people I think will use the item.

I too hate the people that send about 5 emails saying yes i'll come tonight' 'is it still free' 'I really need it can you get in touch' all within aboiut 5 minutes and make a point of deliberately not offering it to them!!!

In all my posts I put something along the lines of 'priority given if you can collect tonight or tomorrow night at 8pm - please state when you can collect in your reply and please provide a telephone number if you do not check your email frequently.' And I always send directions and my mobile number to them so they should call if they are delayed - I wouldn't mind if they contact me to tell me as I am human!!!

So no, YANBU and I would just offer your items to someone else who replied and not give them a second thought - if they don't even have the courtesy to even get in touch it's their loss and they don't deserve the items or your further time wasted getting pissed off with them!

thanks everyone, going to try and sell the items now anyway.

No, YANBU, it is a really rude thing to do to somebody who is offering you something for nothing. This has only happened to me once - somebody said she would collect a cabinet (that I had to move as there was no space for it) at the weekend then never turned up or contacted me. I emailed her a couple of times then sent her a polite email on the Monday morning saying it had gone to somebody else. She sent a snotty reply saying "gee, thanks a bunch". Sadly, some people have no manners.

I think freecycle's only as good as its members. Just like in real life there are some piss taking shits. A good moderator will spot them and boot them out but it needs members to report persistent no-shows to the mods. So YANBU but please don't slag off freecycle so much, blame the rubbish members who don't follow guidelines.

LazyLinePainterJane · 12/01/2008 21:31

report them to a moderator!!

3 strikes and you are out of freecycle!

Milliec that is shocking! Can't believe she said that to you!
