With the law changing around covid I realise we are all being asked to do our bit and stay home if we can.

Are your employers issuing guidance to say that you shouldn't come to work if you have covid?

If so do you get paid?

Yes, I've just been sent home as I started feeling unwell and had some symptoms. I'll only get SSP if positive though.

PenelopePufferfish · 08/04/2022 11:35

I work in a school. We have to stay at home for a week from testing, but OK to come in after that

jesusmaryjosephandtheweedonkey · 08/04/2022 11:38

I tested positive last Sunday with symptoms.
I've was told to stay off this week and just go in next Monday so long as I'm symptoms free. Which I am today.

NoodleNuts · 08/04/2022 11:38

I work in an admin position in a University - I have been at home ill with covid since Wednesday and have been advised to stay at home until my test is negative. When feeling better I will work from home if necessary, until I get the negative test. Full pay.

Turningpurple · 08/04/2022 11:38

Our company is still hybrid. They are remaining that way and changed the whole sickness policy. If you feel unwell, but we'll enough to work you stay home.

Its really made them look at how they view sickness in general. They really want to cur down the spread of any illness where possible.

melodypondisasuperhero · 08/04/2022 11:40

Our office hasn’t even opened back up yet

Ponderingwindow · 08/04/2022 11:51

We aren’t allowed in with any Illness symptoms anymore, even if Covid negative. ( for clarity illness means cold, chickenpox etc, not something non-contagious like cancer)

We also have discretion to wfh as needed so it’s not that big of a deal to not be allowed in the physical building.

CheapFoodShits · 08/04/2022 11:55

We have to stay off if we get COVID (care home). I tested positive this morning. It has been the case the whole way through that staff who are off with COVID get full pay, but I have no idea if that is still the case. I really hope it is.

Saladd0dger · 08/04/2022 12:02

We have to stay off until 2 negative tests. Iv been paid thankfully as I wasn’t off long enough to receive sick pay now it’a changed (Tesco)

WTF475878237NC · 08/04/2022 12:09

Yes we have to stay home and get paid. We can WFH if well enough too.

SirChenjins · 08/04/2022 12:13

Yes we have to stay home (NHS) and yes we get paid. DH is in the private sector and it’s the same in his company. Most of us just WFH if we’re feeling able to - not working at full capacity obvs but at least it helps keep things running a bit.

Comefromaway · 08/04/2022 12:14

No, we come in unless we are feeling too ill.

yomellamoHelly · 08/04/2022 12:15

Not to come in if we're not feeling well. Otherwise crack on as usual.

MrsSkylerWhite · 08/04/2022 12:15

I’m not in paid work but my husband’s organisation is still encouraging home-working.

SexyLittleNosferatu · 08/04/2022 12:16

We go in unless we are so ill that we can't physically work. That's fine by us.

Shitzngiggles · 08/04/2022 12:17

I'm an employer running a small business. We've told our staff not to come in to work if they have symptoms and/or test positive. We pay them though. We work with vulnerable people so won't put them at risk.

Theunamedcat · 08/04/2022 12:20

They cancelled covid support at sisters place of work she made it clear she will be masking up and going in if she gets covid again they looked horrified but she told them if I'm feeling well enoygh to work im coming in I have bills to pay

Don’t you worry about making someone else ill?

Electriq · 08/04/2022 12:20

Yes our covid policy is unchanged, still get paid doesn't add to number of sick days a year and follow previous rules ie 5 days testing rule.

Employer understands the implications of coming to work with is and it potential spreading and having entire teams off.

Pluto90 · 08/04/2022 12:22

Me and husband work for different companies not allowed to work if postive and don't get any pay.

balalake · 08/04/2022 12:23

Yes we should not come in if testing positive for Covid, work from home where it is an option.

Phascolarctos · 08/04/2022 12:26

Old work are making people go in (they got rid of all the CEV people in a redundancy reshuffle...)

New work we are still testing and not to attend

SexyLittleNosferatu · 08/04/2022 12:28

No.

Theunamedcat · 08/04/2022 12:31

If the company were concerned about staff illness they would implement a policy they arnt they are concerned with work getting done and everyone else is concerned with a roof over there heads

Considering that two of my colleagues are anti vaxxers who have refused to test and the rest of them are all of the opinion that we just need to get on with it, then no, I don't. I did have a week off when I had covid as I had a dreadful cough and felt exhausted and I felt really guilty as others only had a couple of days off.
