Rishi Sunak’s wife is NOT elected OR in a public role but she is a woman

Have you noticed that Zac Goldsmith (elected), Mark Carney (role of significance to all of us as Govenor of the Bank of England), 4th Viscount Rothmere (controlling shareholder and Chair of the Daily Mail) all have non Dom status but no mention is really made. However, a woman, who has no public role, has never said anything public, is being criticised for her non Dom status?

And yes she’s getting massive dividends but I imagine as it’s family money there is a massive pre-nup in place so it’s not like Rishi will be able to run off with it!

'The "handling of the pandemic" has been a disaster in the UK.'

No it hasn't. Hospitals weren't ever overwhelmed, people weren't ever ventilated in corridors, ppe didn't ever run out despite the media excitedly making up stories about people in binbags. Critical care was practically given blank cheques to equip pop up ICUs. We had furlough, people were looked after. Oh and vaccinations but some folk don't like to mention that.

We did as well/as badly as other comparable European countries. All the rubbish about the highest sad death rate has been proven to be just that, rubbish.

Yeah but no but Bozo's hair a mess and he ate a piece of cake.

Yes they were, which is why we have 6m people who should have been treated over the last two but weren't... Ambulance and AE still wrecked, with patients with Heart attacks told to drive to AE, which is what a friends on mine had to do when her Husband had one, 4hr wait for an ambulance.

My DD was always running out of PPE during the first wave, at one point, told to use a bin bag and if i hadn't been able to get her hand sanitizer, she would have run out of that.

You clearly don't know what you re talking about, just another in denial Tory.

Germany is probably the most comparable country to the UK, care to compare CV death rates? and the UK has the highest overall death rate and is up there with the worst comparable European countries.

Even by your usual standards @JaniieJones this is a high quality post. Thank you.

I would be surprised if he doesn't stand down from Politics at the next election.

Highly likely I’d say. Then they can scapegoat him for everything that went wrong during his term as Chancellor. God knows where he’ll find a buyer for his massively over developed Richmond house.

Tillsforthrills · 11/04/2022 14:49

Hold on, there’s people defending Sunak or ‘neutral’ over this?

Wow.

jgw1 · 11/04/2022 14:52

@Tillsforthrills

Yes, indeed it is a thing of great beauty. Many are the same ones who could not bring themselves to say that it was unacceptable for a 56 year old to have a birthday party whilst denying that opportunity to millions of children. Quite what they think they are achieving other than keeping the topic in everyones minds I don't know.
Blossomtoes · 11/04/2022 14:52

ppe didn't ever run out

It did. My stepdaughter and her colleagues did 13 hour shifts without a break in ITU because there was only enough PPE for one set each per shift.

Tillsforthrills · 11/04/2022 14:52

He’s moved out of Downing Street and handed himself over to the ‘independent’ investigator that cleared BJ. Petulant spoilt toddler, everyone can see through this act. He is morally bankrupt and unfit for the job.

Blossomtoes · 11/04/2022 14:54

I thought it was just his family who’d moved out and he was still there?

daimbarsatemydogsbone · 11/04/2022 14:56

Rishi screwed up the support for 3 MILLION people who he excluded, such as freelancers, self employed, people who changed jobs at the wrong time, etc. That's a huge number of people who he failed to support, mostly through no fault of their own.

For the first lockdown, fair enough, he had to do things quickly. But he failed to address his failings and mistakes when he had ample opportunity to do so in the subsequent months. What was worse was the way he lied and spun about the problem, i.e. blaming self employed for being tax avoiders, saying he'd met the "excluded" group when he hadn't, etc etc.

He managed to make 3 million enemies which is quite an achievement!

Ironically, part of the excuse for why he couldn't help us (both my sister and I are part of the 3 million) was "risk of fraud" - you couldn't make it up.

cansu · 11/04/2022 14:56

She is milking the system. She also benefits from her husband role in the government. I think the brass neck of the pair of them is unbelievable. He has the power to take measures against people trying to avoid paying tax with non domestic status. He benefits from his wife's tax position. It is nothing to do with her gender and everything to do with their wealth and privilege.

jgw1 · 11/04/2022 14:57

@Blossomtoes

I thought it was just his family who’d moved out and he was still there?
But don't his family live in India/Mauritius/USA (delete as appropriate to avoid paying tax to whoever is asking).
Blossomtoes · 11/04/2022 14:58

His family = wife and kids.

MarshaBradyo · 11/04/2022 14:59

@Tillsforthrills

Yes I was interested in the process and if it had been followed but no I’m not feeling same outrage as others

Other things get to me more - like lockdowns but being angry for days over thus

I guess we’re all different and react to news in own way.

I don’t usually bother with these threads as insults everywhere - but I had heard an update this morning

SueSaid · 11/04/2022 14:59

'Yes they were, which is why we have 6m people who should have been treated over the last two but weren't... '

I'm talking about Mar 2020 when we were seeing footage from Bergamo where people were being ventilated in corridors. We didn't have that here, hospitals were not overwhelmed with critically ill patients with covid, very nearly but they weren't. That was not a 'disaster'.

What you are talking about is completely different, or course there is a a knock on effect of having to provide 10 times the ICU capacity for those with covid (before vaccines were rolled out and this country was the fastest at that, did you know?).

Are you seriously suggesting routine surgery and routine appointments should have just continued?

Blossomtoes · 11/04/2022 14:59

Sorry @jgw1, completely missed the point. The penny’s dropped now.

Alexandra2001 · 11/04/2022 15:00

Has she divorced him? No wonder they bought in No Fault....
MarshaBradyo · 11/04/2022 15:00

But not as much this..

I get other people feel differently which is up to them.

Ah, you are talking about March 2020 when the UK when into partial lockdown before Boris realised there was a problem and only introduced some measures because the public had already done so. Yes a great example of successful government we can all agree on that.
Blossomtoes · 11/04/2022 15:10

Has she divorced him?

It seems she’s returned to their Kensington house and he’s joining her at weekends - because Westminster to Kensington is apparently too far to commute!

So you now qualify your comment.

Italy tried to treat everyone... the UK left people like my partners Nan to die at home or my Aunt who the paramedics wouldn't take to Hospital, despite her needed ventilation, they her daughter that they had better equipment in their ambulance than was available at the local district hospital... she did survive, they were brilliant but this idea the NHS wasn't (and still is) overwhelmed is ridiculous, the things my DD tells me that is currently happening in the NHS is beyond serious, its tragic and its being ignored.

Are you seriously suggesting routine surgery and routine appointments should have just continued

You seem to think that elective surgery is somehow optional? many people needing surgery are in agony, cannot work & have died in great pain.
Many routine appts are to do with Cancer treatments, a cancer missed is someone dying but you think its ok to delay that.

But why should Sunak fund the NHS? he has many millions at his finger tips to pay for the very best treatments anywhere in the world.

Trial separation? should she LTB ?
BambinaJAS · 11/04/2022 15:23

@StormzyinaTCup

If you knew anything about Pandemic risk you would know just how inept the Tories have been over the last 6 years.

@BambinaJAS - do you?

Yes. I look at Pandemic risk in the life insurance side for a living.

The UK has fantastic life sciences people, but totally inept politicians.

About 1/4th of our deaths were avoidable.

Thats what happens when you have inept politicians making the hard choices.

StormzyinaTCup · 11/04/2022 15:44

Yes. I look at Pandemic risk in the life insurance side for a living.

Fair enough, just asked in case you were straddling atop two totem poles!

The UK has fantastic life sciences people, but totally inept politicians.

Yes we do and inept spans all political parties.

Alexandra2001 · 11/04/2022 15:59

True but this particular lot of the inept have had 12 years to learn how not to be and have failed.

They cannot complain they never had enough time.....

On any measure, things are worse now than in 2010, Policing, debt, transport, roads, housing, homelessness, education, health, nurses, GP's... nothing they said they would improve has improved.
