Stick a black bin bag on and go as an oil slick. How hard is that ?

Don't blame you. Why do some people think these are a good idea. Ok up until about the age of 9.

I went to one a few years back armed with nursing bra, a cow print cape and a formidable breast pump - I was Lactator - the mistress of mammaries. It was really funny after several buckfast....

Went to one recently. One bloke in orange jumpsuit, long wig and a "bomb" attached to his shoes = Richard Reid. Well, I thought it was funny.

I went to one as Marie Antoinette in my wedding dress - only had to buy a very cheap tall wig from a fancy dress shop and white my face up and colour in a big beauty spot.

Everyone thought I'd made loads of effort - gave me a chance to be the belle of the ball in my wedding gown again.

Loving Richard Reid and The Lactator though

To same party - dh wore DIY coveralls with Swedish flag stuck on the back - and took his drill. He was Flatpackman.

I have been to loads of fancy dress parties and love them. The best costume i ever saw was a man in a pale grey suit, his hands, face and hair were painted pale grey and he had white splashes of paint all over him.He was Nelsons column.Fan bloody tastic!

I always feel this way when I get a themed invitation BUT I make the effort and am always glad I did because these things are fun and memorable.

I love fancy dress, it's a real ice breaker. I just spent New Year in a Cornish fishing village and everyone was in fancy dress on NYE. It was such a funny night and there were some brilliant costumes.

My fave was the shark, especially when I saw him and the guy dressed as a pimp staggering up the lane at 11 am on New Year's Day. They'd clearly been in the pub all night.

I have been to a few... never feel like doing it, always a bore to plan and get ready... but i always have a great time. It really is fun if everyone else also dresses up. (I am 24 )

We had a Tarts and Vicars party for a friends 30th Birthday and it was good fun, but having said that its each to their own, and also its what you can afford to spend on a costume too.

Hate Hate Hate them.

I want to wear my own well chosen clothes that hid the fact that I am not slim (well I say hide they are not magic clothes so maybe just not show just how unslim)..

Fancy dress makes me feel old, fat and frumpy... Halloween the only exception as even I can go dressed as a witch and look ok.

I am crap at fancy dress.

The last one I went to I wore normal clothes with some cornflake packets stuck to me and carried a fake knife.

I was a serial killer.
