Why do (some) men do this?

kyliecat · 06/04/2022 19:39

Pee all over the toilet seat.

This happened all the time with my FIL, I would have to wipe and clean the seat after he went home.

I have had a male friend round my house a few times for coffee this month, and he also leaves urine on the toilet seat.

I know I'm generalising, but I find this so weird and, judging by the state unisex loos are often left in, I wonder if some men are just prone to shake it everywhere? Confused

Is this common Angry

Man here - I had a DP (woman) who did this in public toilets because she hovered. I know this because I followed her once in a single toilet.

Anyone who does it is a git.

Are you for real?

Pyri · 06/04/2022 19:43

They’re lazy fuckers who don’t need to sit in it, that’s why

ArtVandalay · 06/04/2022 19:46

Yuck x1000.

Sit down wees only in this house. Unless you have a urinal, standing up to piss is always going to be messy.

Whenever we have men here that don't live here (and sadly, I can't force to sit down) the downstairs loo and/or guest bathroom toilet are stinky and pissy.

YoComoManzanas · 06/04/2022 19:47

Dh and ds1 never do it. Ds2 (6yo) we are still trying to train him out of it. Think we've almost cracked it. He just forgets to lift the seat up and is looking anywhere but at the toilet while weeing.
Started training him like a dog with an instant reward of a smarty and he can now hit the pan most times. If he's caught short we will have wee on the floor and all round the seat though. Very frustrating.
However I think anyone older than 8yo (barring sen) should be able to wee in the bowl.

brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr · 06/04/2022 19:47

Maybe if women would leave the seat up after folding it down….

(I know, I know, this is tongue very much in cheek)

bigyellowTpot · 06/04/2022 19:49

my other half doesn't do this, neither does my ds who is still a young child as they lift the seat as men should.

If the seat is up it just goes all over the rim and floor rather than seat and floor.
Specflow77 · 06/04/2022 19:50

Sometimes you get twin jets. I.e. one part spray of wee goes straight but there is an offshoot going at an angle. This is impossible not to make a mess when this happens. Sitting down is the only way.

XenoBitch · 06/04/2022 19:51

I used to clean toilets as part of a job. Women's loos were gross compared to the men's.

Saying that, I grew up having to put up with pissy loo and floor thanks to my dad. He would also leave shit there if it did not flush first time.

Yes I am.

Lightning020 · 06/04/2022 19:59

I blame both the men and their mothers quite frankly. I have brought my ds up properly and not only does he never leave any mess he always puts the toilet lid down as I have been bringing him up alone the way I wd prefer it from 5 months old and he is now 17. He also has been taught to never leave skidmarks behind. Not meant to brag but I do think it is ultimately down to parenting.

phoenixrosehere · 06/04/2022 20:03

And why do their m fathers get a pass..?

cushioncovers · 06/04/2022 20:03

The woman's toilets where I work quite often have period blood, pubes and even discharge left on the seats. And if it's not that it's shit stains all around the pan. It's so fucking grim having to spend 5 days a week using dirty toilets.

Shunter350 · 06/04/2022 20:04

I certainly don't... Angry

Oh yuck! Where on earth do you work?? I've worked in loads of different places and never encountered that in the ladies'.
sweeneytoddsrazor · 06/04/2022 20:06

We have a work colleague that puts toilet paper around the seat before she presumably sits down. But she always leaves it there after she has finished

Chonfox · 06/04/2022 20:07

I blame both the men and their mothers quite frankly.

Surely it's their fathers who would be best placed to teach them penis etiquette? Always the mother's fault...

charliespip · 06/04/2022 20:08

My sons. Both in their 30’s. Have never done this. Neither did my father or my 3 brothers

This!
FTEngineerM · 06/04/2022 20:10

I think some people are just rank and others aren’t.

Used to work in tiny office with just me and another woman - toilets sparkling all the time, never anything on/around the seat, never smelt. Moved office to one with shared facilities with call centre with high turnover and fucking hell blood, pubes, shit and piss every fucking where.

PrincessPaws · 06/04/2022 20:10

Well then cleaning the mess when that happens should be the obvious answer, but so many men seem incapable of doing that
Lunar27 · 06/04/2022 20:13

Jeez that's disgusting.

I'm the only man in the house and have found that there is always some splash back, even when I pee straight. Not that I pee like a Karcher jet wash but think it's common for men.

Anyways, to make it more hygienic I just sit to pee as it's easier than cleaning the seat Evey time!

CantChatNow · 06/04/2022 20:13

My 5yo ds used to sit then some stupid kid at school made fun of him for sitting so now we’re having periodic incidents of piss on the floor/bin/radiator which is infuriating. I find getting him to help clean it helps focus his mind!

Lightning020 · 06/04/2022 20:21

Yes I guess ideally the fathers should play a role in teaching boys to aim at the toilet but many of us have had to be mum and dad to our children these days and the fathers have often been pretty absent or unhelpful or not there at all.
