As the mother of a son - as well as a daughter - (so can’t be accused even at a stretch - of not seeing both sides to this) - the thread is fairly shocking really. But then again - it’s the interweb - and clearly the style of the humour suits the vast majority of posters - so all cool I suppose.

I know it's a joke but it might mean you will miss out on an awesome MIL or FIL. I know some women who stayed in a relationship longer than they probably should have just because the MIL was so lovely.........

My MIL was a lovely lady. My mother, on the other hand showed her true colours in a very short time to my DH.
