To think I could lose ten lbs in a week

And what is the best method to do this please?
I have a special occasion and a special dress. I've just seen horrendous photos of me.
I look matronly in my outfit. I'm normally a 14 , well proportioned but am verging on a size 16 apple.
Hrt had done a number on me and I'm feeling so down and anxious about it.
I want to lose the weight long term and am determined but as a boost to start with, what do you recommend please ?

I lost 7lbs in a week having slim fast shakes for breakfast and lunch then a low cal dinner. Also did quite a lot of exercise that week. Not the best I know but I got a lot of compliments at the event I went to that I had lost weight for.

Catch covid, I've lost 6lbs in 5 days due to being so ill from it. Obviously that is not good advice, maybe get some shaping underwear
I lost zip! Nada! Absolutely gutted.

Up the water you drink each day, walk more, at least 10000 steps a day but 20000 is better with hills

Low carb . I managed 8lbs my first week at 13.5 and 5"7

I usually eat oats for breakfast, egg salad for lunch and chicken and veg/salad for dinner. So low cals too

Op didn't ask for healthy or recommended. She asked to lose 10lb in a week, doubt there is a recommended diet for that.

You can do it with keto but be careful if you are going to drink at the event, ketosis and alcohol is the reason for a lot of the drunk bride stories!

People lose weight very quickly on the Fast 800. But a lot of people put in back on again, almost as quickly.

Shakes 3 x a day and nothing else will probably net you half a stone in a week. It’s not healthy or sustainable and you’ll put most of it back on by the following Tuesday but if you just want a nice photo in a nice dress that’s probably the way.

I started a keto diet in 4 days I've lost 7lbs in water and I'm a size 14 but classed obese.

I agree with the James Duncan diet. I have done it a few times and lost a decent amount in a week. It isn't sustainable, but I enjoyed the food as it includes lamb and steak etc.

The past few years, the only time I have lost weight is when I have been ill. It’s getting harder I’m 49. Done so many diets over the years, weight watchers, slimming world, even proper diet pills from a private clinic. I have just lost 4lbs the past two days from a stomach bug. Im only 5ft 1 and 14 stone. I know myself the only thing that works is diet and exercise in the long run.

OP isn't asking for sustainable ideas, she's asking for quick ways to lose weight for a special occasion. Slimfast 3 shakes a day for a week with 2 - 2.5L of water a day. no alcohol or other treats besides fruit. Not a long plan idea but will shift a good few pounds. Don't kill yourself to lose weight though, really not worth it.

Treat yourself to a facial this week and get another dress.
Even if you lost 8lbs I guarantee no-one you know would even notice. You are the one who's criticising yourself.
There isn't an audience out there pointing and judging you. That's you that is.

Shapewear. Lots of water. Personally I think you are better going for healthy food so you look well not grey. So eg porridge then salad or veg soup/lean protein & veg regime. For me cutting bread, carbs and sweet stuff makes me look and feel better pretty instantly.

Concentrate on prepping for the night out,. Nails, tan, underwear, good skincare etc, then ways to reduce bloating. Veg/fruit rich diet, no starving yourself, lots of water. You will feel much better in yourself so will hopefully have a confidence boost.

Why do people do this? Like the week before an event, 'oh I need to weight FAST'.

Not going happen. Look at it as a push to make forever changes in your lifestyle, and maybe getting ready for the next event you'll be feeling different.

Don't focus on the scales, no one but you knows what the number is, all that matters is whether the dress fits.

How far off fitting is it? If it is just a bit snug on the waist/belly you can probably sort this, if it won't fasten or is tight anywhere else just get a new dress. In fact I would get a back up dress anyway.

Get some really good shapewear.

Then tackle bloating and water retention to reduce your stomach a bit. You will lose a bit of fat but the water will make the biggest difference.

I would go low carb (keto) and drink tonnes of water. You normally lose lots of water with low carb. I'd aim to do 16:8 as well. You will get keto flu at first.

You might get a bit bunged up so have a suitable remedy ready. Andrews liver salts would help without knocking you out of ketosis.

You could try an Epsom salt bath too.

On the Biggest Loser show they only lose this amount by restricting diet heavily and working out like a maniac for hours a day. It's probably not realistic in a week!

Rough guide for an average height person is that (assuming 1lb = 3500calories) you'd need to run a calorie deficit of 5000 calories per day to achieve what you're aiming for.

That means no food whatsoever + 7000 burpees per day, at a rate of 6 per minute that's 19 hours per day.

Clearly not possible.
