I'm trying to do the online shop here and not only is stock a bit shit, like no dishwasher salt, no pork mince, no organic cucumber, no most types of tomato, but I have noticed that a load of the things in my basket say I have reached my maximum quantity. So I am allowed one red pepper, one pack of two small salmon fillets, one pack of tomatoes, one cucumber.....I have a family of 6.

I haven't heard much recently on supply issues. But is anyone else finding this happening? Its a bit shit for a huge retailer.

OMG no organic cucumber or dishwasher salt?

Do you realise there are people in this country relying on food banks to feed their kids beans on toast? To wipe their bums and afford nappies?

I've had to budget this month to decide between toothpaste (essential) and hair conditioner (not essential).

I'm not 'woe is me' but try and get a grip of the general 'tone' of things worth moaning about and things not worth moaning about.

Aldi had cherry and salad tomatoes just now. No tissue cubes though, haven’t been able to get them for about a month.

caringcarer · 04/04/2022 21:02

My Aldi had no tins of dog food. Have enough for 4 days but will stretch out with kibble.

BoredZelda · 04/04/2022 21:03

Did an online Tesco shop yesterday. There were no limits on any items.

SucculentChalice · 04/04/2022 21:04

My local Tesco didn't have any pizzas at all this weekend.

BoredZelda · 04/04/2022 21:04

Can we not, on every single post?

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 04/04/2022 21:05

Why not? It's reality.

EssexLioness · 04/04/2022 21:06

I have just amended my Tesco order online and no problems. Ordered multiples of several items including tomatoes, asparagus and lettuce. Will find out if there are any subs tomorrow when it arrives.

Normando91 · 04/04/2022 21:09

I got a delivery tonight and they subbed my garlic baguette for a cheese and tomato pizza 😂 I’d have understood if they’d subbed it for a garlic pizza bread but cheese and tomato pizza??

bluesky45 · 04/04/2022 21:09

Last week there were a few things in Tesco I couldn't get or I couldn't get the version I normally do (had to get £3 yogurts for the kids instead of the usual 75p ones for example). This week I could get everything I needed. Tomatoes were the only things that seemed to be running particularly low, this week and last. I couldn't get any cherry toms last week but I could this week.

MarineBlue33 · 04/04/2022 21:09

Went to Tesco today and got everything I needed. There was no shortage as far as I could see
In the South East

BonnyandPoppy · 04/04/2022 21:10

Reached your maximum capacity usually means they don’t have it in stock anymore and you’ll get a substitution. I get this when I’m adjusting my basket after putting stuff in a couple of days before.

MarineBlue33 · 04/04/2022 21:13

@GreenFingersWouldBeHandy
While I see that knowing people struggle and use foodbanks, everyone in the UK has a different reality. MN allows us all to share this here.

DalekScarecrow · 04/04/2022 21:14

They've said on the news that there is a significant shortage of sunflower oil, since most of it comes from Ukraine and Russia. And that as a consequence there is a shortage of crisps which rely on sunflower oil to cook them.

Corgeti · 04/04/2022 21:15

@GreenFingersWouldBeHandy

Why not? It's reality.
Because people are allowed to moan about other things too. Them posting or not posting won't change anything re food banks etc

Sorry for your situation. But I was just curious if there is rationing going on as standard practice.

The P&O debacle has reduced ferry crossings across the Channel, Irish sea and from Spain.
No one realises that sea trade brings in 80% of goods and freight, maybe now people will see the importance of seafarers.

SirenSays · 04/04/2022 21:20

This is very strange I got a wonky veg box from lidl and ended up with loads of tomatoes and four not very wonky cucumbers

OfstedOffred · 04/04/2022 21:20

I think the cheaper end of the supply chain is hit first. I got 5 bags of pipes crisps in my sainsburys shop no problem and havent had any difficulty getting my usual variety food in sainsburys or waitrose.

Usingit · 04/04/2022 21:22

I just did the last minutes on my Tesco order and no dishwasher salt or organic cucumber at my local Tesco either. I managed to get all of the shopping I wanted but also noticed not much choice of tomatoes, luckily my usual ones were there

QueenOfHiraeth · 04/04/2022 21:26

Morrisons was OK today, a bit threadbare on salad and the ready made bits like coleslaw, potato salad, etc. Peppers were totally empty last weekend but back today
I have also read the strike in Spain is affecting things

Rosebel · 04/04/2022 21:28

Our local Tesco is small and I've noticed lots of gaps. Local Asda is bigger and not too bad but no dishwasher salt for weeks and weeks.

RewildingAmbridge · 04/04/2022 21:30

I went to Tesco Saturday and it was fine, loads of tomatoes, all different kinds. I am finding dates are a bit shorter than usual but nothing terrible.

jytdtysrht · 04/04/2022 21:30

In the shops near me there are random shortages. Not short overall, but just short of some items.
