AIBU to think these teas are revolting and naff?

A good friend of mine has been waxing lyrical to me about these novelty teas Yorkshire Tea have produced - one apparently tastes like tea and biscuits and one like jam on toast. Is it just me or is there something quite disgusting about tea with these additional sickly flavours? It sounds a bit artificial and grim IMO- I mean if you want to taste a biscuit just have a real biscuit with your tea surely?

Would you ever want one of these, or serve them to someone?

I love the bedtime one. It’s decaf and has a slight hint of spice, a bit like a chai but not very strong. It’s very cosy and comforting.

I think people are imagining a huge whack of artificial flavourings in a cup of tea but all of these variations are very subtle, it’s not like putting a spoonful of jam or an entire digestive into your regular cuppa!

Yabu the biscuit brew one is lovely, I don’t find it sweet, just tastes of a hint of rich tea biscuit.
The bedtime one is very comforting, not keen on the toast and jam one though but I’ve never tasted it so I need to give that one a go

TulipsGarden · 01/04/2022 08:37

The biscuit one is lovely. Although it does make me want a biscuit, which rather defeats the point. It's not sweet.

If you don't like the sound of them, don't drink them?

Branleuse · 01/04/2022 08:39

Biscuit tea is amazing. The bedtime one is not bad. Im not that impressed with the toast and jam one, but its ok

BookkeeperBobby · 01/04/2022 08:41

God I hated the biscuit one! I was quite optimistic and thought it sounded nice but it really really wasn't. It was disgusting. I'm not going to try the others because they're probably as bad. I do like different types of tea and have a whole variety in the cupboard but I had to 'donate' that one to the communal staff cupboard at work. It's still there six months later so nobody else likes it either!

@Madrenetterhere

Grim. Personally nothing beats x2 standard Yorkshire tea bags brewed in a medium sized mug for approximately 5 minutes then a drop of semi skimmed milk to finish it off. I don't remove the bags nine times out of ten and this for me is the perfect cuppa.
No. All tea made in a mug is grim. I’d rather not have it. Always a pot for me. No scummy nastiness then.

Dh bought the biscuit one as ds was starting to drink tea. Really pissed me off as I don’t see a need to sweeten stuff - like when my mum used to add sugar to orange segments Grin for the kids. Would rather they just had stuff without it being made more sugary/sweet. Tried the biscuit tea and it was grim.

ArcheryAnnie · 01/04/2022 09:46

I like the tea and toast one. Sometimes it really does the job. (It can't be left to stew, though.)

shinynewapple22 · 01/04/2022 13:31

@BitOutOfPractice if you have scum on the top of your mug of tea it's because the water hasn't been boiled properly . I always get this if we are on holiday somewhere with no kettle and have to heat the water in a saucepan.

CounsellorTroi · 01/04/2022 13:35

Think I’ll stick with my Earl Grey.

hennybeans · 01/04/2022 13:39

DH and I love the biscuit tea. It's what we drink the most. Toast and jam and bedtime teas are nice too.
None of them are sweet/ have sugar.

Do they have artificial sweeteners?

It doesn’t have sugar added to it.

No artificial sweeteners either.

I had never heard of these, thanks for bringing them to my attention! I have to pay a bit of postage to get them in Ireland but will order some!

OneTC · 01/04/2022 13:51

I liked the biscuit one. The jam one can gtfo though

OneTC · 01/04/2022 13:53

The biscuit one just tastes malty, reminded me of Russian caravan tea

Ohshitiveturnedintomymother · 01/04/2022 13:54

The biscuit one is amazing and I was so excited for the toast one but was a bit disappointed with that, it smelled so much more than it tasted.

Nope. Even if the water has been brought to a proper rolling boil, tea made in a mug is always horrible.

ScrumpyBetty · 01/04/2022 14:17

They are revolting!

spiderlight · 01/04/2022 14:18

Biscuit Brew and Bedtime Brew are gorgeous. The Jam and Toast one just tastes like burnt toast.

Yes! Pot tea is the only tea 🫖

heidbuttsupper · 01/04/2022 14:24

I love these teas! Especially the toast & jam one

ReadyToMoveIt · 01/04/2022 14:27

Tea is grim anyway. Flavoured tea sounds even more so.

thecurtainsofdestiny · 01/04/2022 16:43

The biscuit one is lovely!
