A good friend of mine has been waxing lyrical to me about these novelty teas Yorkshire Tea have produced - one apparently tastes like tea and biscuits and one like jam on toast. Is it just me or is there something quite disgusting about tea with these additional sickly flavours? It sounds a bit artificial and grim IMO- I mean if you want to taste a biscuit just have a real biscuit with your tea surely?

Would you ever want one of these, or serve them to someone?

Absolutely love them.

Happy for you to leave it on the shelf - more for me!

ClinkeyMonkey · 31/03/2022 22:22

I'm in NI and was surprised to spot the biscuit brew in Sainsbury's as I hadn't fancied my chances of coming across it. It's lovely. Haven't tried the jam and toast one though - sounds a bit weird (says she who drinks biscuit flavoured tea😂)

FreezyFreezy · 31/03/2022 22:23

I love different flavours of tea. I have chocolate tea in my flask for work; on an evening when I want a hot drink but not the caffeine I have chocolate and mint tea; on pancakes day I had breakfast pancake tea. They're not sickly at all.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 31/03/2022 22:23

Yes, I'm buying Biscuit Brew tomorrow for sure.

@shinynewapple22

I can't work out if I would like it or not - I like a biscuit with my tea but don't like sweet tea.

I used to love the flavoured coffee granules by Douwe Egberts. Can only find the beanies ones now and they taste like nasty cheap coffee.

Yes! The hazelnut one was epic. Lovely nutty flavour without the sweetness of a syrup. I need to find some!

Do you put milk in the biscuit/jam tea?

MadamBuxton · 31/03/2022 22:25

I was excited to try the biscuit tea but was disappointed. It smelled like a tin of cheap biscuits (Family Circle or similar) to me and tasted like proper tea but slightly weird!

FreezyFreezy · 31/03/2022 22:25

Oh and I also bought some popcorn tea: it was actually like drinking popcorn and was delicious.

Sunnytwobridges · 31/03/2022 22:27

They sound gross to me but I only like black tea, sometimes with lemon. Grin

GoodJanetBadJanet · 31/03/2022 22:28

Do you put milk in the biscuit/jam tea?
You can do, yes as its just like Yorkshire tea rather than a fruit tea.
I have my tea black though and no milk

PinkAndViolet · 31/03/2022 22:40

Loved the biscuit tea for a few months then really started to dislike it.
What does the night time one taste like?

TheYearOfSmallThings · 31/03/2022 22:47

I just googled "popcorn tea" and also came up with "banana rice pudding tea" Shock

I mean...is this even allowed?

@shinynewapple22. In my opinion, it's like having dunked a biscuit in your tea. It smells sweet, but it's doesn't taste sweet. It does make me want a biscuit though!!
cocktailclub · 01/04/2022 06:08

The thought of it makes me sick

UsernameInTheTown · 01/04/2022 06:28

Toast and jam is lush! Normal tea is rank.

overnightangel · 01/04/2022 06:39

@Pushmepullyou

The jam one is lovely!
Totally agree! It’s a subtler taste than you’d imagine
ClinkeyMonkey · 01/04/2022 06:43

I normally take my tea very strong and just threaten it with the milk, but I find with the biscuit brew that I don't like it as strong and need a bit more milk, otherwise it seems too bitter to taste properly of.biscuits!

AragornsGirl · 01/04/2022 06:51

They’re both lovely and not at all sweet or sickly. Don’t knock it til you try it…or if you don’t want to try it don’t make judgements!

WetLookKnitwear · 01/04/2022 06:57

I’ve had the biscuit brew and I enjoyed it.

But then again I only started drinking tea a few years ago. So I can imagine if you’d grown up drinking tea, it might not be so nice.

Thekormachameleon · 01/04/2022 07:02

Bedtime brewers - do you add milk?

MrsGHarrison87 · 01/04/2022 07:06

I love them. Not seen them in the shops for about a year though. I didn't know they still made them.

PrancerandDancer · 01/04/2022 07:13

I'm with you OP. I love tea so excited tried the biscuit one and was very disappointed!

Someonemustknowtheanswer · 01/04/2022 07:13

Vile

mizzo · 01/04/2022 07:33

The biscuit brew one is unpleasant IMO, it tastes like a hint of rich tea biscuits.

DrSbaitso · 01/04/2022 07:44

Well, have you tried them?

It's OK not to like them, but I don't see what's "disgusting" about flavoured tea.
