Really posting in AIBU for the traffic. I’m so fed up. For almost 3 years I’m had green discharge and plenty of it. Bleeding in between periods (I’m peri menopausal), very inflamed sore vulva and vagina. Has swabs 3 years ago and thrush was found so started treatment. This went on for 9 months. I kept telling them it wasn’t getting better. Eventually the GP saw me, did more swabs, this time all clear but still all the symptoms so I was sent under the 2 week cancer rule to gynae to look for cancer. No cancer but they did do biopsies of womb lining. They wrote to my GP saying an infection was found but discharged me, saying 7 days amoxiclav antibiotics would sort it. I took them and it got better for a few weeks then came back as before. Then pandemic hit. Eventually I got an phone appointment and the dr said I needed swabs and if there were clear she would refer me back. Had swabs, all clear so I was waiting for referral to come. It didn’t. So after 6 months I chased it up. Turns out no referral was made. So I got another appointment, swabs done, another set of antibiotics. Swabs still not showing anything but 7 days antibiotics helped for 3 weeks then it’s back as bad as ever. GP has now referred me back to gynae. Discharge soaking pad in hours. Pain etc. I had a mesh thing put in in 2000’s and had mentioned that to gynae but she couldn’t see it on her screen as records online weren’t that long ago, so that was ignored. I’m being told it’s over a year to gynae but nothing is being offered until I see gynae. Has anyone had anything like this before and have any ideas to help?

Please, please, please go to A&E as soon as you can.

I've had PID too. I didn't actually realise I had it until I was admitted to hospital with sepsis. Apparently, I was a couple of hours away from kicking the bucket as the PID had caused peritonitis too. I had a copper coil and this was thought to be the cause of it all.

May I ask, have you been scanned? My coil had shifted sideways and one arm was embedded into the uterus. If you are not certain your coil is in the correct position then I would urge you to push for a scan.

I don't mean to frighten you but I'd hate for someone else to be as ill as I was - it took me a good three months to recover. Just to recap, you have intense, localised pelvic pain with excessive discharge. You have both mesh and an IUS in your pelvis. Antibiotic treatment has not worked. You really must be seen at A&E as soon as possible.

MurmuratingStarling · 31/03/2022 16:22

@RobertaFirmino this is what I said. I am shocked that the OP hasn't gone if it's as bad as she says. That's what they're for. This IS an emergency. She has green ooze coming out of her vagina, soaking pads through in several hours, and severe cramps down below/in her pelvic area FGS! Confused

Anyone who doesn't think this is an emergency needs to give their head a wobble.

Mum198000 · 31/03/2022 17:53

I called 111 to ask to go to a and e. Guess what. Not appropriate they said and don’t advise me going. A dr will call in the next 6 hrs.

When is your GUM appointment? Hopefully that won't be too long for you to wait OP 💐

Mum198000 · 31/03/2022 18:03

I just know they will do nothing.

Mum198000 · 31/03/2022 18:05

It’s 3 weeks away.

NeededAction · 31/03/2022 18:15

You must be SO frustrated. I’m sorry OP.

I think the summary from @RobertaFirmino would be a great place to start with the doctor who phones you. I do hope you get somewhere with it all

Titsywoo · 31/03/2022 18:16

Sounds like the symptoms I had with gonorrhea 12 years ago. Have they not done std tests? Mine had progressed to PID by the time it was discovered. The first lot of antibiotics I had didn't work due to the fact that many strains of gonorrhea have become resistant. The second lot did the trick.

TooManyPJs · 31/03/2022 19:25

@Mum198000

I asked GP about taking it out for that reason and they said they don’t do it. And gave me a lecture on unwanted pregnancy! 🤦‍♀️
Don't take that for an answer. You have awful symptoms with no known cause, get the coil taken out as that could be the answer and it's an easy thing to try. If it's not that you can always get a new one at a later date. It's not up to the doctor, it's your body. Tell them you will try to take it out yourself if they don't do anything, that should get some action going. If not you can pay privately to have it removed.

I have chronic health conditions. You need to learn to advocate for yourself (often very strongly) and view doctors as someone you consult not as the be all and end all. Ime they all have different opinions anyway! If you are not happy with what you are told by one doctor and/or are not getting anywhere with them, see someone else.

TooManyPJs · 31/03/2022 19:27

@Mum198000

I’m just looking into our gum clinic. They are not doing walk ins anymore but I’m going to make an appointment.
Great idea. I found them really great when I had what was thought to be recurrent thrush but turned out to be eczema. They were really thorough and didn't stop trying things.
HikingforScenery · 31/03/2022 19:39

So sorry OP. How awful for you. The mesh had caused loads of issues for women. There’s an episode on women’s hour on it, I think.

Mum198000 · 31/03/2022 20:00

well Dr called. Told me to go back to GP. But said that gynae was the place to go and just to wait.

OP posts:
Mum198000 · 31/03/2022 20:04

Said don’t know why you are calling 111 and that the GP would be the best place, when I said I had seen them and had a referral he just said that gynae was the people t9 help and to just wait or see GP again.

I would push. HARD, for a referral to a mesh centre of expertise. This is a known issue from mesh. I am so sorry you are going through this.

Babymamaroon · 31/03/2022 20:20

I echo the PP re getting the Mesh checked out first and foremost.

hobbledyhoy · 31/03/2022 20:28

That sounds dreadful OP. I'm not sure where you are in the country but there were a lot of women in Scotland who put in a joint claim against the NHS for mesh implants due to some bloody horrendous side effects. I sincerely hope you feel better soon

Mum198000 · 31/03/2022 21:34

Thank you, that’s very helpful. I’m going to ask to be referred to the mesh centre.

@Mum198000

I bet if a man had green discharge dripping out of his penis he would be seen quickly.
Yes, this! It's insane that you've dealt with this crap for 3 years! I think you should actually use this line when you see the next doctor. Best wishes for a speedy recovery Flowers
Sparks79 · 02/04/2022 16:54

I'm sorry to read what's been happening to you. Can you afford private treatment? Unfortunately it appears to be your best option. I would recommend.

nokidshere · 02/04/2022 17:07

I'm sorry I don't know too much about what you are describing but I do know, from a friend of DHs, that there is a support group and some compensation claims going on for people who have had ongoing health problems since having a mesh. It sounds hideous. Maybe if you google along those lines you might find more information?

LottieePopssX · 02/04/2022 17:13

The exact same thing happened to me! I'd had my copper coil for about 8 years with no problems then maybe 4 months of the same symptoms as you out of nowhere. I insisted they take my coil out at a GUM clinic (during a lockdown so they refused until I said the pain was so bad I couldn't work) and within days all my problems had gone. I was honestly a different woman and to this day I am so grateful I had my coil out. No idea why it suddenly didn't agree with me anymore. Good luck I hope you get your symptoms sorted xx

Mum198000 · 02/04/2022 17:39

I’m just so fed up with it.

Youdoyoutoday · 02/04/2022 18:55

OMG!! I have no advice but you poor thing!! I'm so sorry you are going through this and no one is listening to you!
I really hope you get this sorted ❤

Mum198000 · 12/04/2022 23:09

Update - got the antibiotics from Superdrug and the discharge is much better still got a few days left. Pain is still there though. Appointment is after Easter so we will see what they say. Thanks everyone for the support.
