Publicity exercise or not?

OP posts:
LondonKitKat · 28/03/2022 22:42

Not

StrawberryStarfish · 28/03/2022 22:43

Will smith don’t got to cuss in his raps to sell records

ididntevennotice · 28/03/2022 22:43

Why does he need a publicity stunt? He is already famous, current, a household name. What would the gain be?

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 28/03/2022 22:44

Obviously.

And it was badly done.

Justmuddlingalong · 28/03/2022 22:44

Mentally unraveling on live TV.

username3058282 · 28/03/2022 22:45

I thought that but apparently the Oscar are investigating and have condemned his actions.

AWOIF · 28/03/2022 22:46

Of course not. His wife was publicly humiliated in front of 100's of people. Go figure......

EmmaH2022 · 28/03/2022 22:50

Well I do....😂 Literally the first thing I thought when I heard it....Ripe for reworking.

Of course not for publicity OP.

GoodyAlsop · 28/03/2022 22:50

Totally fake.

Excited101 · 28/03/2022 22:51

Totally real, the man’s unhinged

Acheyknees · 28/03/2022 22:54

What an embarrassing episode for all concerned. I just found it all cringe worthy and uncomfortable to watch

Morfil · 28/03/2022 22:55

Anyone who thinks it was a publicity stunt isn’t right in the head.

CrocodilesCry · 28/03/2022 22:56

Publicly humiliated how? She was compared to a strong female character with a shaved head. It wasn't a malicious comment. Will Smith was laughing himself at first and just turned.

Apparently Chris Rock didn't know she had alopecia. Even if he did, he didn't deserve a smack in the mouth in front of the world.

mynamesnotMa · 28/03/2022 22:57

He went 0 to 60. Not sure if Chris Rock failed badly at insulative humour. Felt staged

HemanOrSheRa · 28/03/2022 22:57

It was a very poor one if it was. Why on earth would two black males agree to get into a fight on a live TV broadcast around the world?

Lou1siana · 28/03/2022 22:59

It is a very peculiar slap, though. Has anybody analysed the manoeuvre? Was it a sort of actor’s punch?

Discwriter · 28/03/2022 23:00

I don't think it's faked. What would the gain behind? Why would WS let it overshadow all his hard work and success in winning an Oscar? No one is talking about that, everyone is talking about the slap. It's l directly against everything the academy has been trying to do over the past couple of years. So bizarre really.

TheUsualChaos · 28/03/2022 23:00

It was completely real. Don't know much of the details but it sounds like his life and marriage is far from perfect and happy. It was like witnessing a huge crack in the facade suddenly opening up.

AWOIF · 28/03/2022 23:00

@CrocodilesCry it's not for you to say that she shouldn't feel humiliated, because clearly she was. It wasn't the right thing for him to do, however I don't think he should be judged for it. He's human at the end of the day.

canary1 · 28/03/2022 23:02

Strawberrystarfish

That’s all I could think of too 😂

So it's ok for people to slap/punch others when they don't like their words?

Do you want to tell that to victims of domestic violence?

BluebellsGreenbells · 28/03/2022 23:04

Of coarse he should be judged. Hitting someone isn’t ok. It’s also against the law. He should face the consequences.

Just because he’s famous doesn’t mean he can get away with it. Look at other famous people who committed crimes and police ignored it, didn’t end well when there were mass complaints.

It’s disgraceful - there’s non excuse.

Yup.

One of the most famous actors of the last 20 years.
One of the most famous comedians of the last 20 years.

Not a thing for either of them to gain from it, and plenty (especially for Smith) to lose.

The conspiracy angle on this is absolutely bizarre.

VyeBrator · 28/03/2022 23:05

I can't believe anyone thinks we shouldn't judge violent men because 'they're human at the end of the day'.

Very worrying.

He didnt say is as a compliment ffs stop trying to make an excuse for his vile comment

He said it to make fun of her appearance. Doesn't matter that he must be the only celeb there apparently was unaware of her alopecia, why make fun of a woman's appearance like that?

It isnt like RGervais making fun of celebs he knows, and will take it. They obvs are not friends or close or else CR would have known her condition.

Nasty all round
