Because there are possibly two hundred and eighty five million better things I could be doing with my time. And uh I have a life?!!?? In fact I'm pretty sure lots of people don't even iron the duvet cover (the bit that you actually bloody see! )DH and I got in to a semi serious fight over it last night. He was positively horrified when he saw me putting on a *scream UNironed fitted sheet on the bed. I had spent ages ironing the rest of the bedding (duvet and pillow covers) and two kids' bedding so this royally pissed me off. So, tell me I'm not being unreasonable All you normal folks with your heads screwed on correctly.

@EleanorDeCleaner

Absolutely fucking not, the iron could kiss my creased arse if I knew where it was.
Knew where what was, your creased arse, or your iron?!

I don’t iron sheets at all—line dry or tumble dry, neatly fold—including folding fitted sheets because it’s very easy when you know how and it does save space in the airing cupboard.

Clovacloud · 23/03/2022 14:05

My Mum, but she also irons towels and bras. Frankly there something very wrong with her Grin

MuggleMadness · 23/03/2022 14:26

@EBearhug

I do iron sheets, including fitted, because there are few things nicer than a freshly made bed. But I don't expect anyone else to do it for me.
I love a freshly made bed too, preferably line dried sheets. An ironed fitted sheet doesn't make your bed any fresher than mine.
TheDoveFromAboveCooCoo · 23/03/2022 14:27

MIL does.

And that pretty much tells you all you need to know about her 😂

ukborn · 23/03/2022 14:38

My mother probably did but she ironed everything - I found her ironing her cotton undies once!
But no, I don't iron anything, let alone fitted sheets.

FinallyHere · 23/03/2022 17:11

He was positively horrified when he saw me putting on a scream UNironed fitted sheet *

I'd be delighted that he was volunteering to iron them himself in future.

I love freshly ironed sheets, not enough to iron them myself but very happy to have them ironed.

tiredanddangerous · 23/03/2022 17:12

I have never before in my life ironed any bedding.

Indoorcatmum · 23/03/2022 17:14

Never ironed bedding in my life lol

IWishIWasABaller · 23/03/2022 17:16

I don't iron fold everything out of the dryer while still warm. It's changed my life I used to spend hours ironing before I got the dryer best thing I've ever bought

TeddyBeans · 23/03/2022 17:23

My mum does... Noone else I know, just her 😶

caramac04 · 23/03/2022 17:25

I used to iron underwear (until i smelt the coffee) but NEVER ironed bedding. Fold it off the line or out of the tumbler. Job done.

WishIwasElsa · 23/03/2022 17:28

I did before I had kids, used to iron it once on the bed though 😂

saggyhairyass · 23/03/2022 18:38

Haha like a lot of mums in their senior years mine irons everything. As does MiL, who very much disapproves of me not doing the same. If you hang things right, you don't need an iron in most cases.

clary · 23/03/2022 18:40

I iron all bedding including the fitted sheets, as I find it looks nicer if it is smooth and that pleases me. I also quite like ironing.

However, it is perfectly reasonable not to iron them, or any bedding, if you choose not to. As long as you don't think I am crazy then I won't think you are.

Maray1967 · 23/03/2022 19:39

I love ironing and do all my bed linen and tea towels - always while watching TV. My DH couldn’t care less whether anything was ironed.
In your situation I would tell him to crack on if he wants them ironed. There is no way I would do it if I didn’t enjoy it .

It is very bad for the environment to iron, so for moral and ethical reasons it’s a no from me 😁

FoxtrotSkarloey · 23/03/2022 19:57

My godmother does. She knows it's uncommon and a PITA, but she prefers ironed bedding and is happy to iron her own.
Crucially, she doesn't expect ironed bedding when she comes to stay.

And absolutely no one else I know does.

bumblingbovine49 · 23/03/2022 19:59

@Halllyup17

I'm surprised at the amount of people who claim not to own an iron. I mean, I hate ironing and certainly don't iron bedding, but do you never iron clothes for work, for formal occasions, for dinner out etc?

Most unironed clothes look so scruffy and it's obvious when someone hasn't bothered to do it imo.

Some of us obviously don't mind looking crumpled. I have not used an iron in 3 years. I only iron the very occasional thing anyway but not recently . I don't iron anything for work at all. Clothes are hung out straight from the washing machine and sort of smoothed out when wet. If you shake wet clothes and use you hand to smooth them as well as sort of pulling them tight a few times and then hang them up properly they look fine. Maybe not beutfully pressed but certainly not crumpled and within 10 minutes of being worn look no different than something that was ironed
Duchess379 · 23/03/2022 20:04

Hell no! Pillowcases get ironed & that's it. Ironing fitted sheets & duvets is just plain madness. If DH objects, introduce him to the iron & ironing board.

gamerchick · 23/03/2022 20:07

Eh? Can you expand?
longtompot · 23/03/2022 20:20

Well,I don't iron any of my bedding, except maybe the pillow cases if they've got too creased, but they have to be too creased for that to happen

NewPapaGuinea · 23/03/2022 20:23

Life’s too short for ironing bar smart clothes.

MaizeAmaze · 23/03/2022 20:25

Yes, some people ok, maybe only my mother iron fitted sheets.
But, YANBU not to iron it. Anyway, if it's not quite dry when you put it on, it sort if self irons....

ClumpingBambooIsALie · 23/03/2022 20:26

I find the creases smooth away on their own after the first few weeks on the bed.
