Phrases that annoy you

Mine are:
“We are pregnant” when only one of the couple is physically pregnant
and
“It is what it is”

OP posts:

"Needs gone."

No. You need to get rid of it. "It" has no needs, since it is an inanimate object, incapable of needing "gone" or anything else grammatically plausible.

ivegotthisyeah · 21/03/2022 23:08

Mines when someone normally on face book is referring to all the family - so like way to go team brown or that amazing team smith
Arrhhh grates on me so much

johnnytightlips · 21/03/2022 23:16

You've got this.
My bad.
This too shall pass.
Reach out / touch base and their variations.

Characterbuilding · 21/03/2022 23:18

Can’t stand the phrase "Well done that man".

Purplecatshopaholic · 21/03/2022 23:25

A bite to eat,..
‘Popping’ somewhere, eg, popping to the shops…
‘Dipping’ into savings
Also hate the word Partner. Although I have one - having a boy friend at my age seems daft.
Aaaaaaaaaagh! And breathe…

Smokeahontas · 21/03/2022 23:28

The current proliferation of people incorrectly spelling drawers ‘draws’

therarebear · 21/03/2022 23:30

Please may you....

It was ever thus.

therarebear · 21/03/2022 23:32

I was sat....

miname · 21/03/2022 23:44

@bathshebaeverbusy

Can I get …. ( not please may I have )
Ooh dh does this

At a coffee shop, "can I get a black coffee please"

Every time without fail I'll say to him go on then go and get it. It winds him up, but the 'can I geta' winds me up so 🤷‍♀️

earsup · 21/03/2022 23:47

" its a win....or win win...".....just awful...who made up that crap...!!

Fernandina · 22/03/2022 00:06

Any sentence with either 'mama' or 'bubba' in it. Especially, God forbid, both.

dropthevipers · 22/03/2022 00:08

Another vote for Going Forward". Of course you're going forward you fucking twat, unless you have invented time travel. Makes me want to go postal with an axe. Grr!!!!

headspin10 · 22/03/2022 00:16

Mumboss
'Give your head a wobble' Sad
And, I'm afraid, 'little man' Can't he just be a baby for the short time he is a baby?

fourandnomore · 22/03/2022 00:30

Such is life
Par for the course both by dad says often and do but head in

Making memories
Uggh loads really, agree with most peoples - I’m feeling quite irritable all of a sudden 😆

fourandnomore · 22/03/2022 00:32

Both of these my dad says often and both do my head in bloody autocorrect!!

DrManhattan · 22/03/2022 00:38

Does that make sense?

xprincessxjanetx · 22/03/2022 00:38

Any 'cute' variation of being pregnant e.g. preggers, preggy, preg. "We're pregnant" also irritates me as PP said.

Hubby or hubs instead of husband. Equally, wifey instead of wife.

"Do you know what I mean" - My dad says this after almost every sentence when he goes on long rants, it infuriates me but I just sit there nodding when he says it as I don't want to be rude!

WhatHaveYouBecome · 22/03/2022 00:45

‘And just like that’

‘Myself’ instead of me. I really hate this!

BessieFinknottle · 22/03/2022 00:57

I really hate 'it is what it is' too.

Also hate any sentence starting with 'I'm not saying anything but...'Grin

One I hear frequently is: 'The proof is in the pudding', which makes no sense. The saying is actually 'The proof of the pudding is in the eating', in other words you have to get to the bottom of the thing before you can understand or see the result.

Don't mind this actually. I think even the short version has aquired the status of idiom by now. Proof used to mean test, so it's just saying the test of a pudding is in the eating (which it obviously is) and using that as a metaphor.

elenacampana · 22/03/2022 01:00

Fambo, ‘boob’ used as a verb, to be fair, to the point of, the word utterly, ‘this one’ and anything that might escape the mouth of an Apprentice candidate.

There’ll be plenty more, I’m easily irritated.

KloppsTeeth · 22/03/2022 01:02

Agree with “needs gone”.

“Is anyone gifting…” followed by a cheeky request for something for free. Yes Emma, I was just thinking of “gifting you a fridge”.

My bad 🤐 - hate it.

bullywee · 22/03/2022 07:21

"Poo". It's a jobby.

PinkSyCo · 22/03/2022 07:21

“Ya know what I mean.” Yeah mate, I’m not fucking thick like you are so yes, for the hundredth time, I do know what you mean!

“I literally died!” I wish bitch, I wish.

“Can I get….” No! I need this job so, as much as I don’t want to, I suppose I’m going to have to get it for you.”

“Smile, it may never happen”. I was smiling until I saw your gormless face, cunt!
