Please read the formal review.

Essentially the teaching staff called the police because a black 15 year old girl smelt of cannabis. She was taken to a room and strip searched. She was on her period. Her mother wasn't notified. She was not given the opportunity for an appropriate adult to be present.

@FrancescaContini

I’m horrified. They asked her to remove her sanitary towel - WTAF?
And then wouldn't allow her to go to the toilet and put a fresh one on, she had to put the used one back on 😡

I was feeling enraged reading this earlier

Cheekymaw · 15/03/2022 21:56

This is appalling. An apology ? Is that it? That poor wee lassie. I hope someone with legal creditionals picks this up and sues those disgusting racist thugs ! And as for the school allowing it! Definitely wouldn't happen to a nice young white girl at Rodean.

Nanny0gg · 15/03/2022 21:56

@LakieLady

Wtf is it with the Met? Why can't they just behave appropriately?

This is a shocking way to treat a child.

What is it with the school that they didn't insist on a female teacher being present? (who might have put a stop to it)
RedRum27 · 15/03/2022 21:57

@RichPetunia as if you even said that….which planet are you on?! It’s not just imagined in someone’s head. How dare you even question this act of abuse and racism when plenty of sources are reporting it. It’s reality, it happened and here’s the link to the FULL official report if you can be bothered to read it. chscp.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Child-Q-PUBLISHED-14-March-22.pdf

Bananarice · 15/03/2022 21:58

@phishy

The details of what she went through are horrific.

It’s child abuse. I’m sickened just thinking about it, I don’t think I’d get over that as an adult, how much worse for a child?

I wonder why they sent her home in a taxi? They just have seen the impact it has on her. The fact that they didn’t inform her mum shows that they hoped the girl wouldn’t say anything to her mum out of shame.

How can this be anything other than racist child abuse?

I think they sent her home in a taxi when they realised she probably had dried period blood on her legs. They refused to let her go to the toilet to clean herself up.

I hope at least the police officers, teacher and school nurse gets fired.

Ncwinc · 15/03/2022 22:00

They treated her like a prisoner. Like a criminal. It’s not shocking that the Met treat black children like this - if you’ve read a paper or watched the news in the last decade you know that the police are institutional racist. It’s the fact that they did this in a school, aided and abetted by the teaching staff, that makes this so shocking.

RoaringtoLangClegintheDark · 15/03/2022 22:00

I just saw this online. Oh my god. Can’t even begin to imagine how traumatic for that poor girl. Truly so absolutely shocking, such a betrayal of trust and responsibility by both school and police, two institutions who should have the safeguarding of young people as their first priority.

They are supposed to protect children from abuse and assault, not carry it out.

It just beggars belief that all of them went along with this, that no one at any point stopped and thought, WTAF are we doing here? Monstrous.

And yy to this:

Fuck me the lengths some people will go to excuse blatant fucking racism and abuse of a black kid is astounding.

Some really vile racism apologism on this thread. Zero empathy or respect for those who live with the reality of racism, zero attempt to listen and understand.

Ostryga · 15/03/2022 22:01

I’ve just emailed the MET with an official complaint - obviously not going to do anything to change their racist, sexist, murdering ways but what else can we do?

This is fucking horrifying. Is it not classed as sexual assault?? And if not, why not?

iloverock · 15/03/2022 22:03

@RichPetunia

Seems extreme. Where’s the evidence this happened?
It's subject to a god dam formal review. Read the link I posted

Is there an official email address I could use to do the same? I am deeply outraged by this!

LotusCheesecake · 15/03/2022 22:03

Will the name of the school come out do you think? How many secondary schools are there in hackney anyway?

Where can we complain about the school nurse and the teachers that allowed this child to be sexual abused?
LampLighter414 · 15/03/2022 22:04

So much white privilege in this thread lol

saltinesandcoffeecups · 15/03/2022 22:05

Something in the water lately? This just happened in the US. 6 girls strip searched for vape products.

Can’t say this was racist though as statistically there are 0 black people who live in the town. The school superintendent (school governor equivalent) has been criminally charged though, so that’s good.

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 15/03/2022 22:05

UNICEF has said Children are everybody's business and that includes safeguarding.

Despite the admirable evenhandedness of the report and understanding the limitations of their terms of reference, I still can't get my head around all of the adults abdicating personal responsibility.

ikeepseeingit · 15/03/2022 22:06

What in fucks name is wrong with the met? I'm angry beyond belief. So so sad for that girl. I hope they were all sacked. The met is rotten to the core. Sarah Everard. The vigil. Only a month ago Dr. Konstancja Duff was given an apology from the met for sexist comments after a strip search. Now, this. We don't want your fucking apologies. We want your misogyny and racism to stop. We want our fucking human rights.

iloverock · 15/03/2022 22:07

@ParsleySageRosemary

If this really happened it's ridiculous. I work in schools where cannabis unfortunately is an issue: I am not aware that strip searching is routine.
Why are you denying it happened. It's the subject of a formal review by the safeguarding board

storminabuttercup · 15/03/2022 22:08

So there's an actual report saying 'this was a racist incident' and there are still twats denying it.

I'm fucking sick of it. What bit of this don't people get? If these atrocities mainly happen to black people it doesn't matter that it 'can' happen to white people too, it's racist, end of.

This poor child will live with this for the rest of her life, I was about to say 'I hope she will get some help' but will she? Her trust must be blown to pieces. If you can't trust female teachers, female police officers and a female nurse to keep you safe then who can you trust?

StrongCoffeAvalanche · 15/03/2022 22:09

Although this was heartbreaking to read thank you for posting it. It just reminds me yet again how prevalent racism still. We have so so far to go.

Because it didn't happen. And if it happened it wasn't that bad. And if it was bad they must've done something. And it didn't happen anyways. Not like that. Never.

Fucking people...

greentrees9 · 15/03/2022 22:11

@WonderfulYou

If race is a factor for someone acting a certain way - then yes that’s racist.

PPs need to read the link which says how race played a part.
Why are they trying to twist it or deny it when it’s there in black and white - and these are the sorts of people who claim racism isn’t an issue in this country yet their dismissal of thinking it’s racist is racist in itself.

This - why is whenever there is blatant racism, there is always minimisation stating it can’t be racist - it’s disgusting!
endofthelinefinally · 15/03/2022 22:11

This awful behaviour has gone on for years. Decades. The police clearly have no interest in learning anything or changing their behaviour. In recent years there have been reports, documentaries, inquiries about really shocking behavior.
They just don't care.
What will it take?
I don't know.

EthelTheAardvark · 15/03/2022 22:11

One of many extraordinary features of this is that apparently it is a standard requirement, for pretty obvious reasons, that a supervisor must be consulted before conducting an intimate strip search. It must surely be 100% clear that this is even more necessary where you are dealing with a child and no-one has even called her parent.

Yet there were no less than four officers there and not one of them thought it necessary to contact a supervisor. What the hell was going through their minds? You have to suspect that either they didn't consult because they never do, or because they thought they would get away with it because no-one would make a fuss about this happening to a black girl.

Waitwhat23 · 15/03/2022 22:14

That's truly fucking awful - that poor girl.

It just beggars belief that all of them went along with this, that no one at any point stopped and thought, WTAF are we doing here? Monstrous.

Agreed.

How anyone can say that racism didn't play a part here is beyond me.

TooBigForMyBoots · 15/03/2022 22:15

Nothing will happen to the POs. There will be a lengthy and painful (for ChildQ and her family) investigation. No disciplinary action will be taken beyond a Verbal Warning, if even that. And Lessons will be learnt, the fucking anthem of the police, will be trotted out. Again.

I'm not a fan of public shaming, but I think it's in the public interest that the names of the skanky, lying, racist, child abusing cunts be made known.Angry
