Just that really? We are still having to wear masks all day in work...anyone else?

OP posts:
Seema1234 · 13/03/2022 03:56

Yes, because we have s clinically vulnerable colleague. We run a service for the public so we will walking around with masks whilst the majority of the people in the building are not (public). I can't see the point..

TheHumanExperience · 13/03/2022 14:45

We have 3 departments at work. Only one is enforcing a mask rule, the other 2 have dropped all rules and daily testing, ff!
Strangly enough, it's the department that has a huge amount of space with very few staff, (in the warehouse) that have to stay masked. No contact with the public, non medical; very strange.

Hasselhoffsheadband · 13/03/2022 14:56

DHs still has to when they are in the office. Large multinational company.

tiredanddangerous · 13/03/2022 15:03

No (secondary school) As a result we currently have more members of staff off with covid than we have had at any other point during the pandemic.

millymolls · 13/03/2022 15:06

No
Thank god. Actually will start going in now!

Nelliephant1 · 13/03/2022 15:12

Any responsible employer and human being in general will still be wearing a mask. The numbers are crazy so more room for mutations.

cushioncovers · 13/03/2022 15:18

Yes Nhs. None patient facing but still deemed as crucial work so if too many people were off sick it would be disastrous so we have to continue to wear them. I understand why but I'm so fed up with wearing them especially as I'm menopausal and get hot flushes regularly

What rubbish!! Honestly some people are only happy when they are judging others .
OddBoots · 13/03/2022 15:34

We have what they call 'cafe rules' - not needed when sat at our desks but we need them for moving around.

LaChanticleer · 13/03/2022 16:28

Yes. Large university.

Wearing a mask is a little thing to do, in order to try to keep each other safe. I have colleagues and students who would be very ill if they contracted this nasty disease.

We’re teaching in person (although at least 50% of my students choose online if they’re given a choice) and if I were ill, its likely to be at least 2 weeks of teaching my students would lose. The final year students can’t afford to lose my teaching. And they need to stay fit and healthy.

So wearing a mask when I teach or meet with colleagues is a small thing to try to help keep people around me healthy.

WhenDovesFly · 13/03/2022 16:40

Yes. I work alone in a high street branch offering a service and have to wear one if people come in for an appointment or if colleagues visit.

Scarecrowrowboat · 13/03/2022 16:42

Yes, healthcare.

Inclinedtochatter · 13/03/2022 16:45

Yes - independent opticians

iloveewanthedreamsheep · 13/03/2022 19:09

Yes, I’ve still been wearing one in shops too. I have covid now so it doesn’t seem to have done me much good!

LeedleLee · 13/03/2022 19:15

Yes. I work in a lab at a chemical plant.

NameChangeCity123 · 13/03/2022 19:17

@BashfulClam

Yes as we are in Scotland.
Same here in the shared spaces such as the corridors and toilets and we are also continuing to do 1m social distancing and hybrid working
Reallybadidea · 13/03/2022 19:19

Not only are we still wearing masks (NHS) but my workplace is still enforcing 2 to a table in break areas and a maximum of 4 to a lift. It makes me absolutely furious.

ShakespearesSisters · 13/03/2022 19:21

Yes. I work in an opticians. We don't see it changing anytime soon. I sit approximately 30 cm from a patients face for about 5mins of a 20 min apt and less than a meter for the remaining 15 in a small windowless room.

DaisyWaldron · 13/03/2022 19:25

No. People stopped wearing them a couple of weeks ago, and people started meeting up for drinks after work, and now staff absences have rocketed.

ifonly4 · 13/03/2022 19:51

I have two jobs, one is optional (school), other is compulsory (store containing pharmacy). Doesn't bother me, in fact, I put it on to go into a shop and forget I've got it on.

Had covid recently, I didn't need medical support but we were both fairly rough for the first week (ie it was a struggle for one of us to get up for drinks, to warm soup). I don't particularly want to feel like this say twice a year, on top of anything else.

toomanydogsandcats · 13/03/2022 20:53

@IggyAce

I work in a primary school and we have never worn them.
Cheers for that. I wonder how many vulnerable people would still be alive now without people like you.
PolytheneRam · 13/03/2022 20:57

Yep. 12hr shifts in A&E. Doesn't bother me. I expect they're here to stay in a healthcare setting.

Kirstos1 · 13/03/2022 21:03

Yes, in corridors, toilets and kitchens but not at your desk unless you want to (some do).

LookdeepintotheParka · 13/03/2022 21:06

I work in education and whilst the message here is that it's advisable to continue wearing face coverings, in reality very few students are. Only a handful of staff are still wearing them because we have some colleagues that are clinically vulnerable.

It all feels a bit pointless really, it inhibits communication and we get a lot of Hmm looks from the students.

luckylavender · 13/03/2022 21:07

We have to wear them when we're not at our desks. Cases are rising. Just recovered from my first bout. Unpleasant.
