Following in from the other thread.

Wow. Yes the men may have felt awkward but why should you be reprimanded for their repression.

This reminds me of when DC2 was born. We had a few visitors including a single, male friend. DH (now EX DH) told me off for accidentally leaving a blood soaked pad in the bathroom. Obviously I didn’t mean to but I had a two week old baby and was absolutely knackered. It was my home, my bathroom. I don’t understand why he made a big deal and didn’t just put it in the bin for me.

Better than my exh's attitude.. Apparently we weren't close because I never let him change my tampons.

that's creepy - another vote in favour of mooncups then Grin
reminded me of P Charles leaked tampon comment - that was a bit eughh

@LizDoingTheCanCan

Something a bit creepy about this thread...
Yep, they're already slagging off the other thread over on the MN subreddit, they're going to have a fucking field day with this one 🙄
woodhill · 12/03/2022 13:25

@ThinWomansBrain

Would you walk across the office on your way to the loo carrying a tube of Canesten? Er, yes, but the tube about 3 inches long - who'd know what I'd got in my hand? - I don't walk from my locker to the bathroom holding it aloft and shouting whoo hoo, look what I've got.
I once left mine in the loo but fortunately a mainly female environment
Blossomtoes · 12/03/2022 13:28

@LemonMuffins

Sorry, I'm with your husband on this one.
Me too. It’s pretty revolting. I’d be deeply uncomfortable about other people seeing something so personal.
birdladyfromhomealone · 12/03/2022 14:16

My MIL once fished the tampon out of the loo that had not flushed away.
Came downstairs swinging it and in front of my father in law and brother in law told me not to put them down the loo.
I was absolutely mortified.
I had not realised it had not flushed away but she would take great pleasure in humiliating me.

Thumpkin · 12/03/2022 14:19

I know you say you were tired, but if you didn’t put it in the bin, where did you leave your used sanitary towel? On the floor? On the sink? On top of the toilet cistern? Because that is really unhygienic and in that case I’m with your partner.

Unhygienic! Goof grief it was hardly left in the biscuit barrel

I'm sure her DH could have discretely disposed of it without 'contaminating' himself

Doratheexploret · 12/03/2022 16:03

I’m with your DH. It’s disgusting. No one is so exhausted they can’t put something in the bin , that’s ridiculous. I would have been absolutely mortified.

That's gross! Him being an ex sounds sensible.
grapewines · 12/03/2022 16:08

Too exhausted to put a bloody pad in the bin? It takes a second. No one wants to see that.

forlornlorna · 12/03/2022 16:21

My dd has recently successfully got sanitary products made available on her small specialist school. There's now a cabinet in there that the girls can take what they need from. This was after she got ridiculed by a male teacher for "waving a sanitary towel around".....she had actually took it from her friends bag after realising she'd come on and went to the toilet. It was never waved around ffs this crappy teacher was just embarrassed by it 🤷‍♀️. So after much arguing from her to the school about it, and her taking to walking around school with one stuck to her forehead in protest, they now have the supplies in the toilet.

As for the used towel....my dh would of just got rid of it for me. He's had to plenty of times post C-section. No big deal.

WtF! I think this is the weirdest thing I have ever read
LottyD32 · 12/03/2022 16:44

@Theunamedcat

I got "repremanded" for leaving sanitary products in my bathroom social services came out and in a meeting actually detailed that I left feminine hygiene products out in the open visibly on display! In a house with boys in it did I really feel that was "acceptable".....well yes I did because boys grow into men and potentially have wives girlfriends daughters even and I didn't see why I should hide that side of nature I used words such as regressive explained that periods should not be considered shameful 50% of the population get them for a lot of there lives and I'm not raising a child I'm raising a man who will accept these things for what they are a perfectly normal natural occurrence there was silence then the man running the meeting said I agree let's not focus on that again

Even the school said I was in the right couldn't see why they focused on that area they only visited because my ex got arrested I wasn't the one who did anything wrong this was literally her only issue and she went in hard on me proper frowning about it Hmm like it's a period what's the big deal?

I'd have made a proper complaint about that.
NotNotNotMyName · 12/03/2022 17:02

Yep just to be clear I don’t make a habit of it. I was exhausted and just forgot to bin it. I was also mortified when I realised so it would have been kinder if ex DH hadn’t said anything and just binned it himself.

OP posts:
MrsGHarrison87 · 12/03/2022 17:10

I'm with your husband. It just makes you look lazy with poor hygiene to leave used pads out, tired after having a baby or not. You make a special effort to check you've binned it if you've got guests.

Gotajobthrunepotism · 12/03/2022 17:15

When DS was a baby / toddler, my lovely in laws would take him for a few hours sometimes. I once left my (unused) pads in the nappy bag and was horrified as DFIL might see them (he did most of the nappy changing when they had him). DH thought this was hilarious that I was worried “grown woman in having periods shocker”. And “I think my dad knows that women get periods you know”

Wow!! Sorry but I would not be surprised if he came out as full AGP after a request like that. Fucking hell!
Sapphireskies · 12/03/2022 17:31

I don't really like seeing my own bloody pads so I don't think anyone else would, especially a man who doesn't have periods

Two weeks post partum I was so tired I was basically clinically dead; I did things like put my shoes in the fridge. I can 100% imagine being so tired you forget to bin something. She’s not saying she was too tired to do it: she was too tired to notice she hadn’t done it.

This has got to be one of the most incredible things I have ever read on MN.

Whaaat?

Was it not dripping all over the place, having just come out of the loo?

It's blood not nuclear waste. Or is it inherently horrible because it's left the body via the vagina not the skin?

PinkNails1 · 12/03/2022 21:00

How can you forget to wrap up a blood soaked pad? I’m a woman and I’d be really grossed out if I saw a bloody sanitary pad just lying on the bathroom floor. I feel a bit queasy when I see my own blood soaked pads so I quickly wrap and bin them.

Well if someone left a bloodied bandage I’d still find it grim!
