Completely wrong grammar. The child needs fed.

Perfectly acceptable north of the border.

"Supper". Makes me never want to go near food again.

Also, not a word, but when people moan when they are eating (i.e. putting food into their mouth and going "mmmmmm") I want to stab them, and then myself, in the eyes with a fork.

rainbowmash · 06/03/2022 14:20

@TheYearOfSmallThings

Bliss.
Ugh, I agree! Especially when people describe a really dull experience (like eating crap chocolate in the bath because their noisy kids are away for the evening) as "bliss" or "heaven".

Or maybe I'm just sad for them!

Nandocushion · 06/03/2022 14:38

Oh god yes 'comfy'. Almost bearable for a sofa or a pair of slippers, but I keep seeing people using it for more serious situations ie "he wanted to come over to my house on the first date but I wasn't comfy with that" UGH

FloBot7 · 06/03/2022 17:09

The word succulent. Didn't even know how much I hated it until someone posted about their MIL bragging about something she made being so succulent 🤢

cherrytopcake · 06/03/2022 18:19

Bless her/him - when talking about a child or anyone really

peanutbaba · 06/03/2022 18:53

Slay/slaying
EXpresso martini
Handsomes

and loads already mentioned. Hubby/wifey 🤮

HoneyItIsntGoodLuck · 06/03/2022 19:21

I don’t mind ‘myself’, ‘yourself’, ‘himself’, ‘herself’ when said by an Irish person - in fact, I like it - they can carry it off in way no other nationality can.

DistressedDamson · 06/03/2022 19:32

@GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing

Oh I had a”okey-dokey” too! Sounds passive aggressive especially when written down
I’d never thought of it - but you’re so right about the passive aggressive “okey dokey”!

Passed instead of past (and vice versa)

DistressedDamson · 06/03/2022 19:41

@grapewines

Toddler

I have heard Americans say "tot". That's worse.

Yes and the way “tot” is used in the tabloid press. See also “stunning” to describe any woman to which something unpleasant has happened.

@Stravaig

Thanks! Famalam seems right somehow for sprawling extended family/friends. Holibobs sounds like an old word made new. Why are they annoying? Is there a connotation, or they just are?
Famalam is a word I’ve only ever heard used ‘on the street’ tbf, especially in London. Not so much these days, although I do tend move in different circles now (hence my posting on this thread 😂)

Holibobs-only ever heard this on MN. Has anyone here heard it elsewhere? I’m intrigued 😳
