Just that really. What words make you kinda recoil.

I cringe whenever I hear anyone use the word " ace". Also " dig". I once dated this man who used both and I just couldn't do it. "You were really digging the way I was kissing your neck weren't you". Ugh, no. Go away.

Blue4YOU · 05/03/2022 17:03

Kind (because be kind is so fucking inane)
Hubby
Bestie
Myself rather than me or I
“Is needing done” and variations thereof
Crush (the usual meaning of crushing something implies destruction or force and it’s used (no issues with the use) for a passing sexual interest in someone
Moral/morals
I hate for the sound alone:
Shunt
Chamois
Chick
Unctuous

@rainbowmash

Agree re: "treats" when adults say it about their own food. Treats are for dogs and toddlers.

Basically any baby language used to describe food repels me, puts me off my own food, and makes me think that person is wilfully immature in the rest of their life too.

Yum/Yummy/Nummy/Scrumptious/Tasty
Snack (esp. if used as a verb i.e. "I like to snack on raisins")
Feeling snacky (UGH!)
Munchy
Picky bits
Lip-smacking/Mouth-watering (UUUUGGGGHHHHH!!!)

My slightly more YABU cringe word is "Delicious". It's pretty normal to use it in conversation but I hate it, it sounds so "mouthy" and visceral, as well as pretentious. Half the time people seem to say it when they still have bits of food in their mouths, which makes me want to bolt for the door.

Treats just sounds so gross to me, I don't even think it fits with toddlers. Dog treats yes, anything else nope. Why not say chocolate/crisps/cake or whatever??

Delicious doesn't wind me up but when people shorten it to delish, ugh

I've always thought it odd that so many people ( usually women) who take exception to the word 'moist.'

I'd love to know why. A number of former colleagues would recoil at the word !
