It was on channel 4 news that Putin has ordered his nuclear deterrent on high alert. But tomorrow there's supposed to be peace talks. What the hell is up with the man. I must admit to feeling even more worried now.

@Fairisleflora

You are Sergei Lavrov (smrusdian forign minister) or the head of the Russian army and Putin tells you to nuke somewhere. You know that the immediate response would 100% be a nuke on Moscow. Do you comply knowing you and all of your family will definitely die, or do you just put a bullet in his head / mount a coup. The latter. I am not worried whatsoever. Chill people!
This.

Putin: "I'm dying, I have nothing to lose, let's nuke everywhere."

Second in command: "Well I'm not, and I don't really want to die, but go on then..."

These systems are set up so they can't be activated by just one person. As president Putin's authorisation would be needed, but it doesn't go on him alone.

salemcat · 27/02/2022 21:12

He seriously needs fucking assassinated!!!

BFCfairy · 27/02/2022 21:12

@Liamgallaghersparka thank you for the rational post!! That's where I was before my DH started talking about bombs... and yes I believe probably.from twitter or tik tok!! But Sky news just had a piece on Russian intercontinental missiles!

So sad for Ukraine

5128gap · 27/02/2022 21:13

It would take more than one man, insane, evil, dying with nothing left to lose, or even all three, to launch a nuclear attack. Putin doesn't get to push a big red button by himself, other people have to be involved. Not all of whom will be insane, evil or dying with nothing to lose.

Nubbled · 27/02/2022 21:16

He is nuts. One nuclear bomb from Russia and all nuclear countries will bomb Russia

Sparklesocks · 27/02/2022 21:17

It’s a tactic to be scary, a Cold War type move.

LolaButt · 27/02/2022 21:18

I think they’ll start using some of the really nasty oxygen sucking, fire wall type weapons they they were discussing on sky news earlier.

This isn’t going to plan for putin so I think n he’s going to have a show of even bigger force against the poor Ukrainian people in the next day or so.

Bastard man.

Nubbled · 27/02/2022 21:18

He may be suffering from dementia and not care

Howabsolutelyfanfuckingtastic · 27/02/2022 21:18

@biggreenhouse

he has very little to lose now at this point.. which is a worrying position to be in.
I've thinking this too. A person with nothing to lose is the most dangerous person there is. I'll be honest, i'm terrified.
Howabsolutelyfanfuckingtastic · 27/02/2022 21:20

@salemcat

He seriously needs fucking assassinated!!!
Agreed 👏🏻👏🏻 It needs to happen NOW
Ciaram55 · 27/02/2022 21:20

Wonder what his two daughters think of it. Hmm

Nubbled · 27/02/2022 21:21

He will be sitting in a bomb shelter under the Kremlin

Pizzadreams · 27/02/2022 21:27

Actually I’m worried about it, from what I can understand is Putin sees all the sanctions as attacks against Russia, war. He thinks the world is ar war with him.

The Belarus president has said that in three days it will be a “meat grinder” in there. Which means Putin will start indiscriminately slaughtering and bombing. The Belarus president has also urged the world to show restraint with the sanctions as he thinks this is only going one place. Nuclear war. That Putin will do it.

We can only hope the west already has covert forces in Russia able to take him out or his generals are sane enough that they take him out and not do it. But I think we would be foolish to think there is no risk here.

cardibach · 27/02/2022 21:35

Thing is, he’s a psychopath and all but he’s not totally stupid. If he uses a nuclear bomb that’s the end for Russia. Even without retaliation. They’d be a pariah state. Nobody would trade with them ever again. And that’s without any retaliation. The worst case is Russia completely destroyed. He knows the rest of the world has big enough firepower to destroy the country.

biggreenhouse · 27/02/2022 21:37

But Putin is dead after this whatever happens surely.. he's lost a lot of very dodgy people a LOT of money. he might as well go out with the biggest if bangs!

Ciaram55 · 27/02/2022 21:38

I wish the dodgy people would take him out tonight.

OP posts:
lightand · 27/02/2022 21:44

@Chailatteplease
Have you heard any of his speeches?
The one 2 days ago, tell me he is not um barmy

Pizzadreams · 27/02/2022 21:48

Me too. I’d like to wake up tomorrow morning and I read that someone took him out. I hate to say that about any human being, but right now, killing Putin will save countless lives.
Akire · 27/02/2022 21:50

Judging by the looks his military leaders were giving out today I can’t see it coming to anything. I mean any use of nuclear and the whole planet is Fucked. More likely one his military leaders will do a coup and least get something out of the situation by power.

TreatTrimTame · 27/02/2022 21:50

He is terrifying. I suspect (hope) he will "commit suicide" within the next few weeks.

Longdistance · 27/02/2022 21:52

He’s sent his flying monkeys in. Belarus and Chechnya are helping. Russia isn’t as powerful as we all thought. It’s all Bolshevik’s!
Putin’s Senior officials are not impressed with him. They’re like ‘WTF?’ Confused

DenholmElliot · 27/02/2022 21:54

It's interesting that so many people are saying that Putin is rumoured to have Parkinsons Disease because one of the side effects of parkinsons medication is impulsive behaviour and gambling/risk taking.

Fireants · 27/02/2022 21:57

Back in the 1980s, pre Chenoble, and it all got hairy, there were US missiles in space to intercept nuclear bombs headed our way. I bet there is defensive weaponry now that we can’t imagine. The world will be ok.

Ciaram55 · 27/02/2022 21:57

Me too. I’d like to wake up tomorrow morning and I read that someone took him out. I hate to say that about any human being, but right now, killing Putin will save countless lives.

Oh what a relief that would be, to wake up and hear that Putin was no more.

Apparently he's sacked the head of the military, Valery Gerasimov, Chief of The General Staff.
