I don't normally get sad about celebrity deaths but he is a legend. His live streams during lockdown brighted it up so much. Sound track to my youth.

OP posts:
SuperSharpShooter · 27/02/2022 17:59

Ah maaaan 😢 rip skib

Gingernaut · 27/02/2022 18:02

@Georgeskitchen

Sorry I don't know who this person is either. Does that make me insensitive as well?
Yes.

As you are clearly capable of using the internet to post on this thread, there's nothing stopping you from using a search engine to learn what this thread is about.

You've gatecrashed this thread about the death of someone you don't know and left a turd of a post displaying your ignorance and designed to annoy the OP and anyone who's sad to hear the news.

I'm sorry OP. I didn't like the guy's style of music, but he worked hard, did a lot during lockdown and was loved by his fan base for his work.

It's always sad to hear of someone dying, especially someone so young.

Absolutely disgraceful comments from some on here.
If you didn't know him or what he done, there is absolutely no need for you to even comment just simply scroll past the thread and leave those of us who actually do know who he was mourn and share our memories of him.

He was an amazing humble man and a fantastic successful artist.

Redlorryyellowduck · 27/02/2022 18:10

I'm laughing at all the people who don't know who he is but are posting anyway.
Had I spent my formative years wearing Laura Ashley, drinking chardonnay in Yeates with a broom up my arse I probably wouldn't know who he was either.
But I wouldn't comment that

slashlover · 27/02/2022 18:10

arent you a delight

As opposed to people who can't be arsed to complete a simple google search and yet still feel the need to post.

me4real · 27/02/2022 18:14

I'd not heard of him, but it's sad when anyone dies, especially quite young.

LetHimHaveIt · 27/02/2022 18:15

'Had I spent my formative years wearing Laura Ashley, drinking chardonnay in Yeates with a broom up my arse I probably wouldn't know who he was either.'

I take umbrage at that. I've concealed my norks under a fuck of a lot of LA smocked dresses in my time, but I've never set foot in a Yates wine lodge.

StartingGrid · 27/02/2022 18:15

Is there nothing else to occupy the dickheads today? Hmm

Such sad news, he was a DnB legend. Thoughts are with his family

Cissyandflora · 27/02/2022 18:15

Yes absolutely. Why comment?
user1493494961 · 27/02/2022 18:16

I had to Google.

Most people's thing in my day was grunge. Smile Though I don't like most of the music if I listen to it nowadays.

@Georgeskitchen

Sorry I don't know who this person is either. Does that make me insensitive as well?
Well yes- use a bit brain and Google.
KatherineJaneway · 27/02/2022 18:24

If you do not know who he is, please decline to comment and move on.

'Who?' type comments are insulting and unsympathetic.

MrsTerryPratchett · 27/02/2022 18:24

You'd think even those with well-spent youths could appreciate that DnB was a genuinely homespun artform. We were listening to a lot of American music. It was exciting to have UK artists at the time.

RIP.

Tiddlesthecat · 27/02/2022 18:25

@36degrees

I don't think that's a fair comparison. If you met a friend or relative who was clearly upset/devastated about the death of a close one, of course you wouldn't be dismissive. However, you might also enquire as to who they were (if they hadn't already told you) out of genuine understanding and respect.

BatonRouge · 27/02/2022 18:28

We really need a separate sub topic to keep out all the melts. If you know, you know and if not jog on with your disrespectful self.

me4real · 27/02/2022 18:28

Well yes- use a bit brain and Google.

@Mydogmylife People who have to Google can say 'I'd not heard of him but that's sad' if you see what I mean.

I remember when I first heard drum and bass properly, when I was about 22. I thought it was really weird, it's a strange sound if you've not heard it before.

But that doesn't stop it from being a shame.

WishIwasElsa · 27/02/2022 18:38

Absolute legend so sad and such a loss at a young age. The best always seem to go too soon. Rip Skibba 😥

This. There are some proper ignorant insensitive arseholes on here today. I remember skibadee from raves of the 90's. Taken too soon and incredibly sad. All those commenting who and similar. Shame on you
notacooldad · 27/02/2022 18:39

Who?
Ridiculous comment.
Absolutely stupid.

Grapewrath · 27/02/2022 18:44

Very sad. He was a legend!
Mumsnet does this weird thing with certain genres like ‘I’m far too highbrow to know about this’. It’s a bit like on fb when people think it’s a flex to share ‘I’ve never watched a single episode of Kardashians’
I’m not comparing the two but it’s the whole idea of superiority

RedScarfJamjar · 27/02/2022 18:47

@MakeMineALarge1

I have clearly lived a sheltered life.
Would you like to go and live it, oh I don't know...somewhere else for a bit? Leave this thread to the people who have something pertinent to the OP to share perhaps?
Anthall · 27/02/2022 18:59

One of the biggest mcs on the UK drum & bass, jungle rave scene.
Had the pleasure of seeing him many of times & his sets never failed to deliver.
Stepback Manchester academy early 2000s. Shabba & skibba, jumping jack frost was an amazing night.
Lyrically amazing, highly adataple to many beats, tempos & music Genre's of the past and present.

Many of ravers have travelled the length of the country & abroad to see him play.

The true raving scence will now have a huge void in,absolutely gutted to hear this.

May you rest in peace and mc with stevie hyper d both true junglist soldiers.

36degrees · 27/02/2022 19:08

@TiddlestheCat The thread title clearly states that someone has died, the OP has said they're upset at their passing. What more information do you need? What is confusing you here so much so that you need to be defensive about being so ignorant?

That's a rhetorical question, maybe take the time you'd use for another point-missing reply to reflect on your attitude.

givemeallthecheese · 27/02/2022 19:19

A true loss to the culture.

And the 'who?' posters.... completely disrespectful.
