To wonder how much this would cost on your area?

Me and my partner have very different tastes, plus he’s a big meat eater and I’m vegetarian so we often eat separately but yesterday ordered some Chinese food.

We ordered:

Half a crispy aromatic duck
Mixed seafood chow mein
Plain chow mein
Egg fried rice
Mini vegetable spring rolls (4 tiny ones)

It came to £40! I was shocked, they didn’t even give free prawn crackers. I know prices have gone up a lot recently, especially food, but I thought this was especially pricey really. How much would this order - or similar - cost in your local area?

Also, in the interest of aibu, aibu to think this was a crazy price?!

P.s. a lot of my posts seem to be about takeaways🙊 explains the weight gain I guess haha.

Half crispy duck £14.60
Mixed chow neon- £7.50
Plain chow mien £4.50
Mini veg spring rolls £4 for 10.

So £30.60 here

£41.70 pick up only (we live arse end of and nowhere and nobody delivers here anyway) south west.

Egg fried rice - 3.20 (lage 5)

Forgot the egg fried rice! That's another £3 so £33.60

No chance of getting any of that round here.

I'm confused by the rice with chow mein though.
Surely you have rice and something
Or chow mein which is a complete dish.

Duck is expensive, it's £14 for half here, NW London. DH can eat a fair bit but not sure he could manage that plus rice and noodles. Maybe if he'd not eaten much but done a half marathon run

Just checked our usual Chinese takeaway place,

Half duck - £19
They don’t do a mixed seafood version but king prawn chow mein - £8
Mixed veg chow mein (I assume that’s what you mean by ‘plain’?) - £7
Egg fried rice - £2.90
Veg spring rolls (2 std sized) - £4.20

So that’s £41.10.

We don't get deliveries or free prawn crackers, but we get fortune cookies

Checked two locals I have used - one is £28.50, the other £30, and like everybody else the 1/2 duck is half the cost (£14.20 & £15).

North East England- £30 plus delivery and Just Eat fee if applicable.

We've just had a Chinese, so got the menu next to me.
