First date tonight - when do I contact him

Hi all
First date tonight with a guy I've been chatting to online for a couple of weeks. We've been exchanging messages back and forth and take a good few hours/a day to reply to each other each time so I'm not concerned about that. I last sent a message at 6pm last night which he's not opened yet. We haven't set a time but have decided the place we are going to this eve etc. Should I wait for him to respond to my message from last night or should I message him again asking him what time to meet? He's got his little one this morning so I imagine that's why I've not heard anything yet

Good for you OP. Hope you have a fab time dating.
On a different note, my ideal time to have a table booked for is 18:30/19:00. Allows for a drink or two before ordering/eating.
I think if anyone organised a meal out for 8:30pm I'd probably decline. But then I'm usually more hungry than horny.

Great news OP!

8:30pm would be a perfect time for me for a first date - doesn’t ruin the day plans, you can still put your kids to bed and have enough time to get ready. It’s also nice because you only have to stay an hour or 2.

I wonder how long first dates usually last for PPs.
I think meeting for a couple hours max the first time is more than enough. There are of course clubs and bars etc open if you want to carry on but often you’re exhausted from the nerves.

This thread is revealing a fascinating range of dinner time that I had no idea existed.

There was a thread a year or 2 ago about what time people ate dinner and I was really surprised at how many people ate dinner after 7pm.

Eating dinner before 7pm would genuinely never even occur to me. 😂

Standard dinnertime for me is 8-8.30pm. No earlier, unless we’re going to the theatre, or something. I could happily do 9pm, but later would probably be a bit too late (and I’d be hangry).

Nobody I know even leaves work before half 5/6ish. Getting home, cooking and eating dinner before 7pm would require a mastery of time snd space that we don’t currently possess. 😂

It’s interesting how different everyone’s ‘normal’ is, isn’t it? Little surprising differences.

This is very surprising to me that anyone would eat their dinner before 7pm!

I know! Most people I know don’t get home until gone 19.00! I tend to get up quite early and don’t bother with breakfast. I don’t think I could do that if I ate at 19.00.

If eating out, 7pm.or 7.30. if I'm home alone, I often don't eat dinner. I'm self employed part time so can eat whenever I wish, and will often have either breakfast or lunch, and another small meal at about 5pm, and nuts or fruit during the evening. 8.30pm way too late, I wouldn't even be hungry at that time.
