Because there are rather alluring mince pies left and if they don't get eaten they will be wasted!

No, Don't eat them!!!! You will regret it in the morning. Just think how good you will feel if you resist them and start today!

Mine's not starting until next Thursday because we're going away for a long weekend and there is no way I'm watching what I eat while I'm on holiday!

Oh and there are still mince pies, gingerbread, chocolates, crisps etc etc etc

Its my birthday tomorrow and that it sh*tty enought without dieting too. So my diet starts Friday. Hang on though isn't there a law against diets starting on a Friday? I guess it better be Monday for me too .

I hate starting (or in my case restarting) diets on monday so will start mine on tuesday gives me time to finish the girls selection boxes my chocolates and other christmas goodies

It is post Christmas Law that all the goodies have to be eaten before any diet starts.
I think you would have been unreasonable if you had said you had just bought the mince pies and had to eat them.
