So we had friends round new years eve.

their DS (4) has just learned his first joke - we all thought it was funny except for MiL

So the joke is this - what do you call 2 robbers?

A pair of Knickers

Last night over dinner she finally explained why she thought the joke was inappropriate - because Knickers sounds like the N word and therefore totally imappropriate for making jokes using that word.

the Joke didn't have that word in it - KNICKERS NOT Ni**ers!!!!!

She wouldn't have it that the joke was innocent - she really felt that the child should be disuaded from telling the joke.

What can I say in the face of such ridiculous nonsense - we tried changing the subject - I sat wondering how long in prison I would get for actual bodily harm. (wrong I know - violence isn't the answer but I was really really wound up!!!!!!!)

rant over -

She just didn't get it.

She doesnt' know 'to nick' is slang for 'to steal.'

Alas, someone has made of with her sense of humour [irony]
