Really sick of this weather

It always seems worse in February as we've had 3 or 4 months of this cold, wet, gray, windy and miserable weather and it seems never ending.

Another month or so until spring and it starts to improve.

So do I @MuffinStrops. I love gardening, we don't have noisy neighbours or screeching kids near our house so summer is not as trying for us as it is for some mumsnetters. We also don't get the stifling heat that posters who live in London/large cities/the south east complain about.

Darbs76 · 14/02/2022 08:27

It’s not even been that bad this winter. I’m a dog Walker and we have had much worse than this

RampantIvy · 14/02/2022 09:03

We have had worse - a lot worse. I think it must be very area specific because the last two weekends in Yorkshire have been utterly awful weatherwise. Any dry ground is now a mud bath.

APurpleSquirrel · 14/02/2022 09:09

We've actually had quite a dry sunny but cold Jan/Feb so far, here in the SW. yesterday was torrential rain, but it's blue skies again today which is good as DD has a school trip today to the zoo.

actiongirl1978 · 14/02/2022 09:17

January was very still, cold and dry where I am.

I didn't even wash the dogs after some walks. Normally it's a mud bath by now and I crave May time when the mud starts to dry up.

SartresSoul · 14/02/2022 09:21

For some reason here in Yorkshire it keeps happening at the weekend. The weeks have been fine- cold but dry so bearable. Gets to the weekend and it starts lashing it down. Really gutting.

balalake · 14/02/2022 09:32

I think there is a north-south divide this winter when it comes to the weather, or that's what it seems when you see a weather forecast. So I can understand those in places such as God's Own Country being upset.

I'm just glad of daylight until 5 or so. I cope with cold, it's darkness in winter I don't like.

RampantIvy · 14/02/2022 09:32

Yes. It only seems to be in Yorkshire and the North East where it rains every weekend at the moment. And not just gentle rain, but horizontal, lashing very cold rain that stings your face. It simply isn't enjoyable to be out in that.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 14/02/2022 09:37

I utterly loathe winter. If I could move somewhere where it's warm all year round, I'd do so in a heartbeat.

Hate the cold and the grey and the dark. Can't wait for it to be over.

Must be

Down south…. Glorious

I’m looking out my office window. Windless, clear sky, fresh, bright

Lovemydoggie · 14/02/2022 10:01

I definitely don’t think we will see a snowflake this winter…just rain 😞

MedusasBadHairDay · 14/02/2022 10:06

It's been pretty dry here, lots of clear blue skies which is nice to see, but bitterly cold especially when the wind picks up (and its been really windy lately).

When it does rain it really rains though, and where the ground has been so dry it's not sinking in to the ground so well - parts of my garden are swamp like at the moment.

I mostly just want it to be warmer now

AffIt · 14/02/2022 10:08

Mid-February is always when my tolerance for winter runs out. There's just nothing good about it - it's cold, boring, there still isn't enough daylight to do anything of significance after work, and even if there was, it's raining sideways.

The only saving grace is that it's the shortest month, I suppose.

When I am Arch-Dictator of the World for Life, February will be abolished and we'll go straight to March.

DelphiniumBlue · 14/02/2022 10:09

I'm in London, there have been quite a lot of cold but sunny days. I'm on playground duty fairly frequently so I notice if it's raining because I will be standing outside getting wet, or dealing with the hell that is wet play if it's pouring.
I think it's only rained a few mornings this half term.

romany4 · 14/02/2022 10:12

I'm in West Yorkshire.
I don't mind the rain. I like Winter but I do hate the strong winds.
I live rurally so if a lot of trees come down, I have trouble getting to work

Oblomov22 · 14/02/2022 10:16

Today in Surrey it's very bright blue skies. Makes you feel so much better.

NeedAHoliday2021 · 14/02/2022 10:16

I wouldn’t mind if it snowed but no chance of that this year so it’s just miserable… the reason we booked April in the Canaries last weekend. Fed up and need sun.

DrCoconut · 14/02/2022 10:17

It's forecast to rain all half term 😫. I'm fed up with the cold and wet too. It's not like we even get good reliable summers to compensate, the last two were washouts with a couple of days of ludicrous heat thrown in. Here's hoping for a prolonged period of good weather starting soon.

RampantIvy · 14/02/2022 10:18

Today in South Yorkshire it is raining (again), and I have a 250 mile motorway drive. Oh joy.

Somuddled · 14/02/2022 10:20

West Yorkshire too, in a job where I am outside all day. This has easily been one of the driest and sunniest winters I have seen in a long time. Bloody windy though. I do think many people discount lovely winter days (sunny and dry) just because it isnt hot.

RampantIvy · 14/02/2022 10:22

My phone has just pinged a yellow warning for yet more wind Sad

Somuddled · 14/02/2022 10:22

Yes to this! And so many people apply that to the whole season.
CirreltheSquirrel · 14/02/2022 10:26

West yorkshire. I think it feels worse because the last three weekends have all been grim. Weekdays haven't been so bad, or at least I've got out for a lunchtime walk most days without it being too horrible, but nice weather when I'm working isn't as much use!

FourTeaFallOut · 14/02/2022 10:26

I think February is the worst month but March is the most disappointing. At least you know February will be shit, by March you think you have made it to spring and it should be significantly better but it rarely is.

CandyLeBonBon · 14/02/2022 10:42

It's February! Not sure what you expect?
