The idea of a favourite colour after the age of 9ish strikes me as a bit ridiculous. Different colours suit different things. They’re all great(*)

*But I don’t like pink. I blame it on all the pubs I went in as a teen - pubs that served teens in the 80s were not pleasant places and the toilets, uniformly pink, were the most repugnant parts of them.

Gardeningcreature · 12/02/2022 05:56

Can't think of anything in my home which is pink. Wouldn't chose to buy a pink outfit either, it doesn't suit me , totally washed me out. Even my preference for plants and flowers in the garden isn't pink, I try and go for oranges, yellows and whites.

Forshorttheycallmecomp · 12/02/2022 05:58

I’m not much of a fan. Prefer the peacocky green/blue/purple continuum.

My dream is to be able to buy a birthday card for a named female relative that doesn’t have pink on it…

I find deeply odd that an adult would have a favourite colour full stop. Surely some colours you like to wear, some look good on stationary, some go well on your kitchen wall. Some people like a monochrome look, some like vintage etc etc but the idea that anyone past the of about 16 would have a "favourite colour" makes me chuckle.

Genuine question, why?

My favourite colors/shades are aqua and white.

I like soft pink in clothes. I'd never use pink when decorating the house. In the garden, I'd prefer white flowers to pink.

I think it's normal to have a favorite colour. I also have a favorite number.

fantasmasgoria1 · 12/02/2022 06:30

Purple, red, silver and black for me

Kittromney · 12/02/2022 06:35

Love teal for decor (my whole house is teal 😅), but I look better in warm colours so shades of dusty pink and rust orange for me.

scrivette · 12/02/2022 06:38

My favourite colour is pink, followed by turquoise.

I know it's my favourite as I am always drawn to it in shops although I don't have many pink clothes.

babyjellyfish · 12/02/2022 06:41

Yellow too, OP!

Vampirethriller · 12/02/2022 06:41

Hot pink is my favourite, but I love green and blue almost as much.

ApolloandDaphne · 12/02/2022 06:43

Deep raspberry red is my favourite colour.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 12/02/2022 06:43

No but I always wanted a pink and grey bedroom so when ex moved out that's what I did. It's a bit brighter than I was planning though!

AllTheWeetabix · 12/02/2022 06:45

I love pink. It’s such a pretty colour and goes well with other colours but I will never wear it! I have it throughout my house instead

Everydayimhuffling · 12/02/2022 06:58

Mine is and always has been red. I find it odd that some people seem to find it childish to have a favourite colour. It's just a colour you are more drawn to. Just because it stops being something you talk about doesn't mean that preference goes away. My toddler asks people what their favourite is all the time (hers is yellow) and almost everyone can say without any thought.

HeyRememberThatTime · 12/02/2022 07:06

I like teal, mustard, dark green. Not a fan of pink at all.

My DD 6 has just asked for her new room to be painted pink, but won't wear pink clothes as she claims it doesn't suit her. I agree but she hasn't heard that from me.

OmgIThinkILikeYou · 12/02/2022 07:07

Yes it is, I love pink! But not light pastel pink, I like strong bright pink.

HarlanPepper · 12/02/2022 07:10

I don't have a favourite colour. In fact there aren't many colours I can categorically state I don't like - it all depends on the context.

TenoringBehind · 12/02/2022 07:13

I find the concept of a favourite colour odd. The right colour depends on the item, the light, the aspect etc.

I’m drawn to greens but there’s lots of things I wouldn’t want to have in green - cars, hair spring to mind.

I’ve never really been drawn to pink though, except some flowers.

GeorgiaGirl52 · 12/02/2022 07:13

@Coronado2

Mine is green, but not all shades of green. Some dark jewel greens or some pale greens. There are some disgusting greens 😂
Totally agree
BreakingUpWithMyPhone · 12/02/2022 07:13

Oh, I thought this thread would be about how irritating it is that women's hiking socks, running gear, anything really, are invariably pink. If we're lucky, teal is sometimes available.

So, no, my favourite colour isn't pink, and I like it even less due to the patriarchy's idea that it's pretty much the only colour that women like.

OmgIThinkILikeYou · 12/02/2022 07:14

Clothes wise I wear pretty much all black - my teen goth years are still rooted in my soul haha. I don't think I own any pink clothes but I do have a lot of pink in my house.

TulipsGarden · 12/02/2022 07:18

Nope. I don't mind very bright, fuchsia pink and I like pink flowers, but generally I don't like pink for clothes or decor. If I had a little girl I would try to avoid dressing her in pink.

I like purple, emerald green and blue.

Nailsbythesea · 12/02/2022 07:18

Green

Scarby9 · 12/02/2022 07:19

Blue, blue, blue, blue.

It was blue when I was a child, and it is still blue now.

BUT, I had my colours 'done', some 20 years ago, and was deemed to be a sweet pea summer (I know names have now changed for the categories). That opened up a range of purples and pinks that I would previously have avoided. I dipped a tentative toe in, and now embrace them.

So I do now like pink, but only in clothing, and only as a complement to a shade of blue.
