Women taking the fall for men

I think women are often set up to take the fall for men.

Whether is Allegra Stratton having to lose her job for a couple of comments about parties while her boss Johnson keeps his after actually attending the parties.

Or, more seriously, Ghislaine Maxwell being the only person who is alive facing justice (rightly) for her role in trafficking while not a single man who actually commuted the abuse is.

Possibly Cressida Dick taking the fall for her disgusting sexist, homophobic, racist male colleagues, but the buck does stop with her, so probably not such a concrete example.

Of course these women are responsible for their own actions, but it is weird that what the men do is often worse but the woman are the ones who take the blame! AIBU?

@ThinWomansBrain

women have more integrity?

I wish Johnson would follow Cressida Dick's example

I'm not sure integrity comes into it she was effectively forced to resign yesterday Siddique Khan .

You might have a point if she hadn’t been on the ropes for ages and only then resigned when the Mayor of London pulled his support. Not exactly an honourable “falling on her sword”.

Stratton, and her husband James Forsyth were both a key and active part of the Boris/Carrie machine with cosy weekends at Chequers. She was literally laughing on camera about the parties in Downing St held when people could not visit dying family. Its not the first time she has been tone deaf on the media. Frankly her tears were for herself, most of us were shedding tears for friends and family at that time.

Maxwell was guilty of trafficking young girls and demonstrated a sense of entitlement the size of Everest despite the billionaire class legal team. The only reason Epstein isn't in jail is because he is dead. Maxwell belongs in jail.

Cressida Dick has presided over a racist, misogynistic police force which if anything seems to have worsened rather than improved. She was still in complete denial of this and pulling the "one bad apple" routine.

Carrie Johnson is not some poor little woman who accidentally overspent on fancy wallpaper. She was and is a politically active person in her own right and deserves to e held accountable just as much as any man.

Janice Turner wrote a good piece on this - compare her to her male predecessors. If Philip May had stuffed No 10 with his own political cronies or Dennis Thatcher had demanded the No 10 Jag be upgraded to a gold plated Rolls there would also have been outrage - quite correctly.

The problem is not these women being held to account, the problem is the paucity of men being held to account with them.

@VladmirsPoutine

I'm with you. These women were the very definition of girlboss feminists. Yass Queen! What we need is more female serial killers!
GM???? She was predatory, abusive, manipulative. A thoroughly nasty piece of work. Not a “girlboss feminist”, whatever that may be Confused

Exactly this

I think there’s a legitimate conversation to be had about women being scapegoated for things but I think the more interesting and pertinent examples are more day to day, and to do with relationship dynamics. Dr Jessica Taylor’s book Why Women Are Blamed For Everything is really good on this.

But I don’t think holding up Ghislaine Maxwell, Cressida Dick or (to a lesser extent) Allegra Stratton is the right exemplification really. Sometimes women do make mistakes, bad choices, are cruel, or do hurtful, criminal, violent or upsetting things in pursuit of power, advantage, revenge or advancement.

When holding power, women are equally capable of fucking things up as men are.

Or the American girl who returned from her night shift to realise her little boy was unresponsive .Her BF who had been looking after him overnight had disappeared and was found to have taken his own life. SHE is facing life in prison although entirely innocent! (Rebecca Hogue BBC news) Laws there include "failure to protect child" WTF! she was on a night shift! So she is responsible for him killing her child when she wasnt even there FFS

I see woman taking the fall for men all the time. Mainly protecting them despite domestic violence. On a smaller level sacrificing their jobs/free time/money to pay/look after kids when the man won’t.
