He’s not going anywhere is he, old Barnacle Boris?

No matter what is thrown at him, Boris is not going to do the decent thing and step down is he? He’ll cling on until he’s pushed and even then I imagine he’ll stage a sit-in at Number 10.

Surely even he can see his behaviour is appalling and he’s not fit to run the country? So depressing.

Where is Starmer?

Well, at the moment he, other MPs, Councillors and activists are all out campaigning for the May elections.

There's a big social media campaign about Labour's fuel/energy pledge.

There are Labour MPs on prime time television shows, discussing the issue of the cost of living crisis an Johnson's appalling Leadership.

If you haven't seen any of this ... well, I don't know what more can be done.

Obviously, none of it hits your particular newsfeeds. 🤷‍♀️

But that is the problem with reaching people these days.

The saturation coverage is, of course, on the government of the day, particularly if that government - and its Leader - is embroiled in quite newsworthy chaos.

Other things - including the Leader of the Opposition - get pushed down the agenda.

PS I'm not sure Starmer was responsible for the defeat in 2019, which led to Corbyn ceasing to lead Labour.

thecatfromjapan · 06/02/2022 22:53

I think the U.K. deserves better.

But I think the weird volatility that put Johnson into No 10, with an 80 seat majority in the Commons is abating.

I think we've had enough of clowns.

Classica · 06/02/2022 22:53

He won't go until he's prised out, his ego won't allow him to serve a shorter term than Theresa May, but he's dead man walking as far as the Tories are concerned. The elections in May will be very interesting indeed.

Blinky21 · 06/02/2022 23:03

Longer he stays the more unelectable the Tories become, so he's welcome

DorothyZbornakIsAQueen · 06/02/2022 23:09

@jessy100

Where the fuck is Starmer and his pathetic excuse for an opposition. He's spent more of his time trying to stab Cornyn in the back than challenge Johnson!
I agree. Backbone of a fucking gnat.

He should be inciting protests!! He's got no fire in his belly.

Labour desperately needs someone with passion to get people revved up to oppose this tory scum.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 06/02/2022 23:09

Why would somebody offer him a job though? He's totally useless. He's a joke of a man. This is his one big shot and he's blown it. He has to hang on, there's nothing else out there for him.

PlanetNormal · 06/02/2022 23:15

No. Unless he loses a vote of confidence or is convinced of a criminal offence, Boris is going nowhere before the next election.

He has worked & plotted his whole life to become PM and he will have to be dragged out of Number 10 kicking & screaming. He has no concept of ‘doing the decent thing’, he will fight dirty if he has to, and will split the party before he goes quietly.

Classica · 06/02/2022 23:20

Sadly there'll be lots out there for him. Ex-PM and ex-Etonian, no matter how inept will always make a big fat wedge.
Mogwig · 06/02/2022 23:22

Carrie is telling him not to resign 😉

MsAgnesDiPesto · 06/02/2022 23:22

In the immortal words of Mr Malcolm Tucker, he’s clinging on like a limpet up a whale’s arse.

He has no shame or integrity, and he still doesn’t understand that the rules which govern the rest of us also apply to him, so he doesn’t see any reason to go.

The lack of awareness is staggering, but also not surprising given his background and track record. Maybe if he was arrested that might make a difference, but he’d probably think it was jolly japes and that he’d be able to resume normal ‘service’.

The level of my disgust for him and his cabal of shitty devils rises daily.

Thewindwhispers · 06/02/2022 23:39

He’s always known that he’s incompetent and shouldn’t be in the job, and he knew that this was obvious to the electorate too. For him, nothing has changed. He does not care what you or I think, at all.

He’s Britain’s Trump, and Trump did not go quietly.

Expect a great big mess.

Nospringchix · 07/02/2022 08:31

@StoneofDestiny

The racist fucks of this country voted him in to Take Back Control. They have got exactly what they deserve

Not me and not my country 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Yeah, the people of Scotland had more sense than some us in England.

I'm from England and voted remain. I feel embarrassed to be English to be honest.

DrManhattan · 07/02/2022 08:34

He's a cockroach, he would survive a nuclear winter. He's messed it up so bad no one wants to step in now, not even Gove.

middleager · 07/02/2022 08:36

There have been a number of optimistic threads over the past few weeks, asking who should be our next PM and what other jobs BJ could do etc.

On each one, I replied that he's going nowhere willingly. He's known as the greased piglet for good reason.

IncompleteSenten · 07/02/2022 08:40

Nope

He set his sights on the job. He created 'Boris the Affable Buffoon' very deliberately and performed it in public and it worked.

He is manipulative and ruthless and he won't "do the decent thing" because he simply does not care about the 'decent thing'.

LeQuern · 07/02/2022 08:43

Let’s pray the Met find him to have broken the law. Appreciate it’s unlikely given that Dick is in his pocket but maybe, just maybe…

AlternativePerspective · 07/02/2022 08:44

Nope. And the press are even saying he would win a no confidence vote.

And the truth is that unless Starmer pulls his head out of his arse and starts talking about what the labour government is going to do differently rather than keep going on about what the conservatives aren’t doing he wil be voted back in again.

Spookytooth · 07/02/2022 08:48

Sacking No 10 employees ??? What the hell does he not get?
It's him ........yes YOU BORIS.

CharacterForming · 07/02/2022 08:57

Interesting article here from 2006 about how prime ministers refuse to go even when they logically should. Author one ABDP Johnson.

It's just after 9am on a Monday morning, I give it until lunchtime before the next scandal is leaked to the press. Let that rumble on a few days then the next will drop in time for PMQs on Wednesday. Then the next. It's the death of a thousand cuts because he's pissed off the wrong people and they just happen to be the people who know where the bodies are buried (and - let's face it - at this point I wouldn't be shocked if rhey were literal bodies rather than only metaphorical ones).

I have zero sympathy for him, he's an utter cunt.

ThreeFeetTall · 07/02/2022 09:12

He has form for not resigning.
Quote from the article below - "Howard offered him the chance to resign, but Johnson insisted on being fired"

www.theguardian.com/politics/2004/nov/14/uk.conservatives

Westfacing · 07/02/2022 09:17

The Tories know that even if he survives the coming weeks, and wins a confidence vote, the damage is done and will continue to be done the longer he's in office. He's not going to suddenly become statesman-like and improve his image.

I think they are hoping to replace him well before the next election because there are bound to be more scandals if they leave him in place.

I'm not too bothered if he stays - he'll make more mayhem for his party Grin. The UK will survive his tenure.

SartresSoul · 07/02/2022 09:18

Hopefully will do irreparable damage to the party and they will finally be ousted at the next election.

IncompleteSenten · 07/02/2022 09:29

They can't because they will be admitting they knew.

Starmer is brilliant at PMQs. You're not seeing him in the press because most of them are in some way controlled or owned by the Tories. You only have to look at the headlines of the Sun compared to other papers - last I saw was something about Wayne Rooney rather than Boris Johnson's latest scandal!

Things will change (and are in fact starting to) when the press decides they'd be better off with Starmer. Suddenly he'll be everywhere, like Blair was in 1997. The BBC can't promote Labour because they're reliant on the government for funding.
