Periods at nearly 55, am I alone?

Posting for traffic, aibu to ask if anyone else is still having or had periods at nearly 55? I have the odd gap of a month or two with night sweats and other peri symptoms but they keep returning to the regular 4 week pattern. All my friends were done by 50/51! Is there an age when I should seek a medical opinion Confused

@IsabelHerna

Amazing! That's very healthy, is it common in your family?
It's not 'very healthy' - it increases your risk of breast cancer.

Mine started to go a bit weird at around 54, I went on HRT at 56, when I was still having periods, but still have an erratic cycle, so am on cyclical HRT. It doesn't bother me 🤷‍♀️

Mine didn't start until I was nearly 16, though. And I was pregnant/breastfeeding for several years.

My periods started at 13 which was normal back in the day. Friends who are primary school teachers talk about nine year olds having periods. I feel so sorry for them. I was collected from school a number of times for pain, dizziness, nausea. I'd be put to bed with a hot water bottle, aspirin and a slug of brandy.

I stopped at 53.

Nearly 53 and now mine are more regular than they have ever been but i did get a coil fitted for the first time 5.5 years ago so it's probably that! Mine were horrifically irregular and very heavy from age 14 onwards.

My mum stopped at 51 and my maternal grandmother stopped at 51 so I was very hopeful especially as I've inherited everything else from them from hair to skin to body composition and weight gaining tendencies Grin Fortunately not too many horrific symptoms at the moment except lack of tolerance to alcohol, disturbed sleep and horrendous brain fog.

I definitely recommend you all take a look at Dr Louise Newson, menopause and HRT expert. There is an app called Balance which has tons of info and you can log your periods and symptoms and even print put a report from it which you can take to your GP.

But .... why... Twospaniels.

I said "My periods are no trouble at all to me". I don't have symptoms. I have no reason to track them or download apps to consult GP, etc.

53, Checked the app and last period was July 2021........ 7 months ago!

..........until today 🤦🏻‍♀️
