Covid test for nursery

NurseryDrama · 04/02/2022 09:29

My daughter goes to a private nursery,
She's had a cough and we've been doing laterals daily but nursery wanted a pcr so I got her a pcr test.
It was negative and of course I deleted the results 🤦🏼‍♀️ (I delete my emails daily)
And thought that would be ok, it has been for both our work, school and the previous nursery.
They however wanted proof. (As if I'd take my child to nursery with Covid!!!)
So I said I didn't have any and I wasn't paying for the sessions they refused her entry to.
Aibu?

You need to check nursery covid policy.

SoupDragon · 04/02/2022 09:32

why wojld you think they wouldn't ask for proof? There would be no point in doing a test without proof. Even if you wouldn't, there are people who would absolutely take their child into nursery with Covid.

Don't deleted emails sit in the bin/deleted emails folder though?

SoupDragon · 04/02/2022 09:33

I think YABU not to pay.

Whinge · 04/02/2022 09:35

Speaking from personal experience, people do send their children in to schools / nurseries with Covid. So whilst you might not, it does happen.

You need to check the nursery policy, but asking for proof of a negative PCR isn't unsual. Is the deleted email in the deleted folder?

girlmom21 · 04/02/2022 09:36

You can recover your deleted emails. You'd also have a text.

Of course they want proof.

JustUseTheDoorSanta · 04/02/2022 09:36

Open your deleted items folder and get the email out. Or explain to the GP receptionist and ask them for a letter or screen print, GPs get all results.

I don't know why you're being unpleasant to nursery, they are following a standard policy.

Eileen101 · 04/02/2022 09:36

Why on earth wouldn't you keep an important one like that?
I think it's quite normal, our nursery asks for the email to be forwarded on.
Is it still sat in your deleted folder?

Yabu not to pay when you deleted the proof!

nothingcanhurtmewithmyeyesshut · 04/02/2022 09:36

YABU. It's basic common sense that they would need proof. Some people would and have dropped their child to nursery, knowing that they have covid.

And it is not their fault your child is ill and unable to attend so YABU in not paying. You deleted the email. Not them.

Suchamuddle · 04/02/2022 09:37

Our school and Nursery have had a few children brought in with covid.
I can access my deleted emails for a while, might be worth looking.

hardboiledeggs · 04/02/2022 09:38

YABU. Deleting the test result without sending proof to them is just madness tbh. It’s on you so you pay

Toanewstart22 · 04/02/2022 09:38

Just go in to your deleted items op

Toanewstart22 · 04/02/2022 09:42

* So I said I didn't have any and I wasn't paying for the sessions they refused her entry to*

Ha!! You do that op

And then see if your daughter is ever permitted to go back!

Lochroy · 04/02/2022 09:42

Yes, YABVU. And ridiculous with your email filing/deletion. More so if you've permanently deleted it rather than just deleting it so it stays in your deleted folder.

Sounds like you will have to get another PCR done.

And as she's effectively been off sick, yes, you pay.

YeOldePotato · 04/02/2022 09:43

It will be in your deleted items.

Of course they will want the proof.

Toanewstart22 · 04/02/2022 09:43

By the sounds of it
They don’t trust you
And it sound like they’re sensible not to

YeOldePotato · 04/02/2022 09:46

They can't just take people's word for it. There will be someone who doesn't believe in covid or something and just send their kid in anyway. They need to keep the other children and the staff safe. I hope they take you off their books tbh with your attitude, it's scary enough sending a child to nursery when you do trust the other parents to take the PCR when asked.

FelicityPike · 04/02/2022 09:49

Why on earth would you delete the results?

Volhhg · 04/02/2022 09:56

Sounds a bit strange that you deleted the results. I believe that childcare providers are not allowed to require proof of results as a condition of attendance. I think it's on the .gov covid information

busyeatingbiscuits · 04/02/2022 09:58

So your daughter had a cough, you went for a PCR test and then you strangely managed to accidentally delete the email results when the nursery asked for it..?

They definitely think you're lying!

Recover the email or show them the text you were sent.

YeOldePotato · 04/02/2022 09:59

The nursery my DC goes to would refuse her entry for 10 days with no test result.

YeOldePotato · 04/02/2022 09:59

That's a point, did you delete the text too??
CecilyP · 04/02/2022 10:03

There’s no ‘of course’ about it! You got the PCR test to prove to the nursery that your DD dint have Covid. Why on earth did you then destroy that proof? Did yo also delete from your deleted items? Is there any way you can restore the email or request a duplicate?

ChittyBangs · 04/02/2022 10:06

YABU
My son wouldn't be allowed back for 10 days if I deleted my proof of negative test.
But I think it's pretty stupid tbh to delete the proof.
Do you delete from your deleted folder too?

Toanewstart22 · 04/02/2022 10:09

The op won’t be back
And I doubt her child will be welcome back at the nursery
Ever!

SephrinaX · 04/02/2022 10:09

Of course they wanted proof. It just weird that you deleted that email, especially since they asked you to get the PCR test and obviously would want the result.
I think if you don't pay for sessions you might find yourself having to find a new nursery.
