Covid test for nursery

NurseryDrama · 04/02/2022 09:29

My daughter goes to a private nursery,
She's had a cough and we've been doing laterals daily but nursery wanted a pcr so I got her a pcr test.
It was negative and of course I deleted the results 🤦🏼‍♀️ (I delete my emails daily)
And thought that would be ok, it has been for both our work, school and the previous nursery.
They however wanted proof. (As if I'd take my child to nursery with Covid!!!)
So I said I didn't have any and I wasn't paying for the sessions they refused her entry to.
Aibu?

YABU, you can't just refuse to pay. The nursery would be sensible within their rights to terminate your DDs place.

Recover it from your deleted folder or send them the text message. It's such an easy fix but you seem determined to make a drama.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 04/02/2022 10:10

Do another test?

I’ve never heard of anyone deleting the test results! You might be able to get another one sent if you call up NHS test and trace.

Honestly though, of course they want the proof. You’ll have to pay for the sessions undoubtedly.

AuntieMaggie · 04/02/2022 10:11

You should have got a PCR in the first place!

Suchamuddle · 04/02/2022 10:15

Would another option be to call 119 and ask if they can access her results?

ThinWomansBrain · 04/02/2022 10:17

yabu for deleting the email
should be able to recover (or can you access the result or covid passport on line) - or show the text.
Or in the extreme report as not received and see if they can re-send - but why waste the resources of the testing service?

of course you need to pay - they told you in advance that a PCR was required, not their fault you went to the trouble of getting one but deleted it.

JustUseTheDoorSanta · 04/02/2022 10:18

From no response, I presume OP didn't actually get a PCR test but tried telling nursery she did and is trying to figure out how to get around not having the results.

And the nursery thankfully have the long and short of her

Yep I think you're spot on with this.

OP was hoping the nursery would take her word for it. Good on the nursery for seeing through the ridiculous I deleted the email comment, and refusing to take the child without proof.

Meandthesky · 04/02/2022 10:38

YABVU

Of course people send their dc to school and nursery with covid, just like they do with stomach bugs even though they know they shouldn’t.

Nursery is completely reasonable to require a PCR test (which you should’ve done anyway as she has symptoms) and to not take your word for it.

Recover your deleted emails

Meandthesky · 04/02/2022 10:40

And pay the nursery!

It’s not their fault you either “deleted the email” or lied about taking the test.

Tabitha888 · 04/02/2022 10:44

Is this even a real post

SlashBeef · 04/02/2022 10:47

So you deleted the text too? I'm surprised you didn't think they'd ask for proof.

NurseryDrama · 04/02/2022 11:13

Ok, to answer a few questions,
It's been less than 2 hours, I actually have a job to go to. 🙄

I didn't put my number for text results.
Yes it's odd but it's a real OCD thing about deleting emails.
I've been asked to do them before at work and at the previous nursery (we have recently moved) they never asked for evidence so I guess I just assumed.

I've already arranged her to have another pcr test, this time I'll make sure to keep the results in a folder.
But tbh I'm not sending her back there anyway, there's some major concerns I have about other things but that's off topic.

I'm shocked people send children knowing they have Covid, surely that is neglect?
My grandma has had it really badly in hospital, I'd feel horrific thinking I'd purposely passed it on to someone vulnerable!

Why would if be neglect?
It's just selfish.

So why are you getting another PCR test?

lovenotwar149 · 04/02/2022 11:49

I am glad my children are adults now as I wouldn't do LFT on a nursery child. I'd be looking into other options. Thats just my opinion.

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 04/02/2022 11:49

Surely the email would be in the deleted folder?
Also I always get a text as well- this also deleted?

Howdoisawwithnosaw · 04/02/2022 11:51

You had to be told to do a PCR instead of LFTs for a cough. No wonder they’re a bit suspicious and want proof really.

Morechocmorechoc · 04/02/2022 12:09

I woukdnt keep testing her. You know 2 a week is acceptable levels of the chemicals but more isn't. The tips actually have poisonous stuff on them when you read up.

I didn't put my number on the form when I booked the test. Unfortunately it's permanently deleted, yes I know I should probably re think my ocd habits when it comes to emails 🙈

She will be starting at a different nursery asap, they have places and have said they don't require evidence

Think carefully before you send her here. Good nurseries don't often have places immediately available and if they don't want evidence from you they won't ask for it from other children or staff. That increases the risk for everyone.

ChittyBangs · 04/02/2022 12:26

I wouldn't trust a nursery who don't need proof of a negative test.
Very poor IMO

YeOldePotato · 04/02/2022 12:48

I am sorry to hear you are struggling with OCD, mine manifests itself with handwashing and light switches. It's quite debilitating at times. I would suggest speaking to the GP to see if there is anything they can do to help. Your folder idea is a good one if you think you can manage that. Good luck.
