Does a bed need a headboard?

I want a new bed, we have just moved house and our bed is massive and chunky.
I've found a great bed for not much money but it has no headboard.
I think it would be fine, husband thinks it's weird to not have a headboard.
I can't add voting as I'm on mobile but AIBU or is he?

Yes ...to.let your neighbours know when you're having a good time..used to stuff pillows over the edge of one of our headboards to try and muffle the clanking and knocking ..and laughter from next door ..

I haven’t read the full thread. I had no headboard for a few years. My pillowcases were rubbed to shreds against the plasterboard of the wall.

I’ll always have a headboard now.

I lose my pillows without a headboard

AryaStarkWolf · 31/01/2022 16:36

I'd rather a bed had a head board

I live the look of wall mounted headboards.

Especially when any cables for lights, phone charge etc are hidden behind them, given a really clean, sophisticated look.

I haven’t read the whole thread, but…
I don’t have a (traditional) head board either.
So, put a decorative curtain pole, metal or wood of your choice, above the bed.
Then add loops to a pillowcase in order to feed the curtain pole through.
So then you will have hanging pillowcases to stuff with a pillow.
Of course you can buy or make ( if you’re talented) the pillowcase… it can be as plain or as fancy as you like.
Conveniently, if your colour scheme changes, it’ll not be too difficult to change it…

You can feel the cold if it’s on an outside wall.

I don't think so my bed doesn't I've just got a mattress and base

No headboard in the guest room. Not used too often, though.

Um won't there be a slight gap between wall and the bed because of the frame against the wall so if you sat back against the wall the pillow would evitably slip down into the gap a bit. I don't know I have headboards on all my beds because its nicer to sit up against and more comfortable than a wall.

Thanks everyone, we decided on a headboard
