Anyone watched this… I can’t bring myself to watch it, but it’ll be coming to cinemas shortly.

What is the best milk substitute you have tried? Specifically when added to tea, I don’t mind the substitutes in cereal but my tea tastes grim without milk.

@BellatricksStrange

Our morals and ethics are a social construct and social contract. Animals are not part of that contract, therefore we don't owe them anything. As far as I'm concerned, animals have zero rights.

If we want milk, and cows have it, we can go ahead and take it.

The only place I'd draw the line is wanton and gratuitous cruelty to animals. Only because I don't want to live in a cruel society, but not because we owe it to the animals.

Hope you dont own any animals

I use minor figures oat milk barista.
Cow's milk tastes weird to me now!!

motherofawhirlwind · 31/01/2022 21:10

I drink my tea black now - very weak. One tea bag lasts all day. Works for me

Oat milk or almond milk for porridge and cereal. Vitalite slices for sandwiches, Asda own brand grated for pasta etc.

It's not hard!

This is disturbing and psychopathic

Drink Redbush without milk!

Jijithecat · 31/01/2022 22:17

Surely if you want a milk substitute you need to take into consideration whether the farmer will be paid a fair wage.
One of the issues in the dairy industry is that farmers are under so much pressure to keep costs low so that supermarkets can sell milk at the lowest price whilst keeping their profit margins as high as possible.

DirtyDancing · 31/01/2022 22:21

Make my own oat milk. It's so easy, cheap and delicious!

DirtyDancing · 31/01/2022 22:24

Vegan chocolate is lovely! My DH can't have diary due to an intolerance so we are well versed on all the diary alternatives (except butter. Nothing can replace butter :(

That is just as ridiculous as some of the blatant lies from extreme vegans.

Of course animals have rights, and thank goodness those are enshrined in law in the U.K. we have some of the highest and strictest codes of animal welfare in the world, though they could go further. If we didn’t I’d join the vegan crew. But we do so I will happily continue eating meat and dairy, but strive to see even better conditions set as standards.

Have you tried Naturli?
Mirw · 01/02/2022 00:00

Be wary of this type of propaganda. Maybe go see a dairy farm in the UK and speak to the farmers before giving up dairy... Or is that too hard to do?
I have friends who are dairy farmers and they do not treat their animals in this way. I do not drink milk, eat cream or ice cream and haven't done for more years than I remember but I do eat cheese and am happy to do it if I know where the milk comes from. To stop supporting our dairy farmers without doing proper research is disingenuous,

aveline161 · 01/02/2022 03:02

Biscuits were mentioned- no one needs to give up biscuits! Bourbons and Oreo’s both vegan!

aveline161 · 01/02/2022 03:27

If you live south of Norwich www.oldhallfarm.co.uk/ is a calf at foot dairy

CuntAmongstThePigeons · 01/02/2022 04:04

Wow what Bellatricks said is possibly one of the worst things I've ever read on here. WTF. Utterly psychopathic and depressing.

kookievee · 01/02/2022 07:26

Not going to watch it as have been vegan for 22 years already and I don't need the stress of seeing it.

Might try to get DH to though as he's still a carnivore.

Percyprod · 01/02/2022 07:48

I'm old fashioned, no problem using cow's milk or any other animal product, although I don't like milk on it's own, and the sight of someone drinking it turns my stomach. I think veganism may take over one day, which will be a sad day, only able to see cows, pigs, sheep horses etc in zoos.

EdithStourton · 01/02/2022 07:51

I've read the whole thread.
Many many references to animals having their throats slit.
Not a single reference that I saw to captive bolt stunning.
So yeah, vegan propaganda.

So many posters on these threads have no idea about farming, about the countryside, about how so much of Britain isn't suitable for arable agriculture.

Or about what life is like for wild animals.

We horsey folk are far too stubborn to see our beloved horses resigned to petting zoos 😅

ollobololo · 01/02/2022 18:34

@EdithStourton because captive bolt stunning is such a kind thing to do isn't it.

faunalytics.org/effective-captive-bolt-stunning/

Not to mention that regardless of the method it's done there's no such thing as "humane" slaughter. It is murder.

GlitterWitch · 01/02/2022 20:08

I have been vegan for 8 years and I have tried every plant milk available in the UK. By far the best I have found is Tesco own brand longlife sweetened soya. If you prefer something more creamy I would go for oat milk but it really is trial and error.
