Surely, surely - there is something less revolting than a toilet brush which is also as effective??

So there's never any marks below the water line?! Confused[/quote]
My hands are not afraid of water - yes, they go in and scrub even underwater! It's amazing what hands at the end of arms can do.

Best tools in the world, and the easiest to wash Grin

YABU. Perspective is needed here. If you’re disgusted with loo brushes, then you’re probably disgusted with, you know: normal bodily functions… Get a grip! You clean the crap, then you clean (disinfect/bleach) the tools and your Marigolds! Job done. You’re overthinking this…

So if a guest leaves marks under the water in your toilet they have two choices: submerge their hand in the toilet water and to clean it, or leave the marks for you to clean? I don't understand how anyone can think that is fair. Maybe you're comfortable dipping your hand in toilet water on a regular basis but most people aren't, especially in other people's toilets. And most people don't want to leave shit marks for other people to clean either. How is a toilet brush more disgusting? I don't understand toilet brush outrage on MN!

Quirkyme · 31/01/2022 00:05

Yeah they're gross.

Use bleach.

CrumblyCrimble · 31/01/2022 00:13

Has no one said tongs yet?
Apparently if you can't stomach a brush, or you don't want to put the brush in your dishwasher, then it's tongs all the way.
Perhaps with a polite explanatory note for guests

I said earlier in the thread that a guest has never left marks in our toilet. Children used to, and I dealt with it as described, then a squirt of bleach.

If I messed up a loo in a friend's house I would deal with it as described too, not leave it for the next person. Honestly, just dive in with tissue and a quick wipe if a skid is still there after flushing - just flush again and it's gone. Then wash your hands.

To my eyes a toilet brush sits there looking unpleasant, never mind if it's clean or not (you can never know for sure). My way is 100% clean, and very eco friendly. :)

PyongyangKipperbang · 31/01/2022 00:33

This again?!

WeasilyPleased · 31/01/2022 01:30

Oh god not this again Hmm

echt · 31/01/2022 02:03

Well, if the brush isn't shitty, it's clean.

And any way, do you think everyone washes their hands after using the lavatory?

This stuff is amazing for the limescale though. Use regularly and leave it on...its gone.

Another bonkers toilet brush thread. I have 3 loos 3 brushes. None are covered in 'poo'. You scrub, rinse and replace in the holder. I am categorically not sticking my hand below the water line, gloved or not.....
