Surely, surely - there is something less revolting than a toilet brush which is also as effective??

@Sofuckingsad

I use the toilet duck version where you have a grippy thing that holds a little disposable 'brush' that you release and flush down the loo. I only use the official 'brushes' for cleaning up big messes - most of the time I just use the gripper to grip some loo roll and clean up any mess with that.
Such a thorough reply. I almost felt like I was with you through every twist and turn. As it were.

🥱 🥱 🥱 This has been done to death on here. There’s nothing wrong with them unless you rub one in your face.

ExtraOnion · 28/01/2022 16:28

Toilet paper … wipes clean .. flush away … better than a shitty stick in your bathroom

shedevill · 28/01/2022 16:39

Sorry, but what do toilet brushes have to do with mental health? Am I being dim?

stuntbubbles · 28/01/2022 17:47

I just use disposable toilets. Better than anti-depressants!

@TheRealHousewife

No brushes in this house ... marigolds and loo roll after use. My loos are sparkling, fresh and clean :)
Surely you’ve just relocated the problem from loo brush to the rubber gloves?

I clean the loo thoroughly with the brush then flush and squirt further loo cleaner into the water and leave the brush in there. It works well.

I literally just stick my hand down the toilet with toilet paper and get cleaned right under the rim........
Oh surely that's worse!!

Why is it any more revolting than any other method?
Maireas · 30/01/2022 12:09

Thank you OP!
I love a toilet brush thread!

Maireas · 30/01/2022 12:11

@JadeSeahorse

Toilet Duck sell a disposable toilet brus.

It’s a long, plastic handle with a refillable head. Just google it and see what you think. I have used it and it is pretty good! The refills are pretty cheap too.

So do you throw away the plastic head after each use?
Singlebutmarried · 30/01/2022 12:13

I’m just waiting for the

‘You can clean them in the dishwasher’ comments.

Maireas · 30/01/2022 12:15

@Singlebutmarried - oh yes, that's always a good one.
Have we had the word grim yet?.

xXwhenwillitendXx · 30/01/2022 12:15

I agree, hate toilet brushes. I use bleach, unfortunately the DC often don't flush the toilet and you get a build up of horrible stuff at the bottom over time, then it's the disposable gloves, plastic cup and a pumice stone

hangrylady · 30/01/2022 12:16

Just shit in the garden

Ok, talk us through the plastic cup and pumice stone method. Is that the stone you remove your hard skin with?.
Cleebope2 · 30/01/2022 12:21

What’s wring with it if you keep it stoked in bleach and clean the brush bowl out now and again? There’s no way the men in my house would use gloves or clean after themselves with roll but they will use a brush at least. It’s not shitty asit is always full if bleach.

xXwhenwillitendXx · 30/01/2022 12:26

@Maireas yup that's the stone. So when you get a build up at the bottom, like that thick stuff that sticks (not sure what it is, and would rather not know), cur the bottom off a plastic party cup to get all the water out and then just rub with the stone. It removes any residue without scratching the toilet bowl

Bananaramram · 30/01/2022 12:27

You can find tablets from B&M which fizz up and theoretically remove the need to scrub! They’re individually wrapped in plastic, though, so I’ve never tried them.

EatYourVegetables · 30/01/2022 12:30

Is your search function broken OP? Because toilet brushes have NEVER been mentioned on MN before Hmm

Peas252 · 30/01/2022 12:32

Do you not have a cleaner do this for you?

PrincessNikla · 30/01/2022 12:33

jesus christ - how is it better to use rubber gloves to scrub shit off your toilet than a toilet brush???

GeneLovesJezebel · 30/01/2022 12:33

Just use your hand to scrape the skids off.
