To be disgusted by toilet brushes and want an alternative

Surely, surely - there is something less revolting than a toilet brush which is also as effective??

I am disgusted by people who use the Toilet Duck disposable brushes.

When you clean the bathroom clean the toilet brush handle with the same stuff you use for the loo seat. Then after bleaching under the loo rim prop the brush up in the toilet bowl brush end down immersed in the bleachy water.

SnickettyLemon · 30/01/2022 14:08

I quite like the look of these.

Rubber gloves and getting your hands down the ubend

I love a good bog brush thread. I also love my bog brushes and have two of them. One upstairs and one downstairs.

Why not just lick it off, it dig a hole in the garden each day and tell everyone they must take a dump in that, wiping their arses with leaves.

That way your toilet will remain pristine and unused with no need for a bog brush.

Why are you disgusted???? The disposable bit is only like a pad of toilet paper, the plastic handle is for use for good and all time. The is no plastic disposed of, or am i missing something??

@TheRealHousewife

No brushes in this house ... marigolds and loo roll after use. My loos are sparkling, fresh and clean :)
But where do you put your yucky marigolds?Envy

Silicone brushes are great

@freecuthbert

People who don't have a toilet brush, do you expect your guests to be putting their hands down the toilet too?
No, but if I have an unsightly poo at anyone else's house and it has left a mark I just use toilet paper to wipe away the skid and flush again. Then wash my hands as normal.

There really is no need for any sort of toilet brush. At home I deal with it as above, and bleach after every poo. And a weekly thorough scrub with bleach (using my hands (shock!) and a scrubby sponge).

If it's a guest's skid (never happens) I would dowse with bleach and then clean as normal.

@TheVillageShop

So there's never any marks below the water line?! Confused

breakdown19 · 30/01/2022 14:18

It is no pun intended shit
You can have mine if you want op Dm me your address

LemonPledge555 · 30/01/2022 14:34

How about a bamboo one? I am very pleasantly surprised at how good they are. Naturally antibacterial, no smell, dry v quickly and not v expensive either.

Trippingslippingx1 · 30/01/2022 14:41

I use this one which is rubber i got it from amazon xx

grey12 · 30/01/2022 14:45

A high pressure douche Wink

Great for cleaning yourself, you'll use less toilet paper (just for drying not for cleaning), and you can wash the thread marks or break up big ones....

MaybeHeIsMyCat · 30/01/2022 14:46

I just have a normal loo brush with a lid. The inside container I put cleaner in which is a mix of essential oils and white vinegar
Rinse the brush in the clean toilet water, replace in holder. Change the cleaner in the container as I need to

ChrissyPlummer · 30/01/2022 14:50

I swear a few years ago I saw an advert for a product that you dropped in the loo and it fizzed up and then you flushed. Kind of like a denture tablet for the toilet. I think it was called ‘Kaboom’ but I don’t remember ever seeing it for sale.

vixeyann · 30/01/2022 15:02

YANBU I still suffer flashbacks from the gross previous owner of our house who left one in shitty water, which then spilled out as we tried to bin bag it. I still feel queasy at the thought of that clean up...

Sweptwindy17 · 30/01/2022 15:06

You definitely want a douche sprayer. Absolutely blasts everything off straight away.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 30/01/2022 15:12

Hedgehog on a stick.

Norman lives outside most of the time. Only comes 'when needed' and then it's a quick sluice and he's back outside again.
He seems quite happy with no prickly attitude.

(I don't really have a hedgehog on a stick... annoyingly he kept falling off... )

There's a Toilet Duck version (in a black box) and they're, erm, crap. Grin

I am the happy owner of 4 bogs and 4 bog brushes.
I am NOT sticking my hand down there, with or without marigolds unless there's money/diamonds to be found
I clean the bog with bog cleaner then flush, then flush again to clean/rinse the brush.

pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 30/01/2022 15:24

Oh, and yesterday I invented a new product.

I got Bog Roll and Loo Roll mixed up...

In this house, it's now Log Roll 🤦‍♀️

Socialcarenope · 30/01/2022 15:37

WowIlikereallyhateyou the "paper" has plastic in. Just like lots of tea bags have plastic in them. So yes, people who use them are literally flushing plastic down the loo.

Mossstitch · 30/01/2022 16:18

@TwoLeftSocksWithHoles😂😂 love your natural method

Hate them, never had one, can just visualise a toddler playing with it 🙈 don't really seem to need one but if I want to give it an extra good clean I use bleach and a used/finished with toothbrush or kitchen brush that was going to be thrown away anyway.

DD2 was twirling it the other day 🤢

Fingernail

teenagetantrums · 30/01/2022 17:16

I just stick my hand down with a cloth and bleach. Then wash my hands. It's really not complicated

ChrissyPlummer · 30/01/2022 19:08

@pussycatunpickingcrossesagain I’m just glad to have confirmation it exists Grin
