To think you don't do this?!

Maybe I just don't understand petrol station etiquette but I'm really quite annoyed.
Went to get a fire guard for DS who is determined to get everything he can't have, so I'm pretty exhausted and run ragged. No fuel in car, DS fell asleep within 5 minutes so I go the pay at pump one so I don't have to disturb him, but I have to be fast with white noise playing etc whatever all fine.

Get there and there's a car in the front one so I go in the one behind. Sort my card out, by the time I start pumping he's leaving. So now there's a space in from of me but it's it's far end lane so it's only one car width, I've authorised my card so I can't move pumps.

So a woman drives in the other lane, past 2 empty pumps with the big "WE HAVE LONG PUMPS USE BOTH SIDES" signs. To the exit, then reverses into the space in front of me. I'm finished before she's even finished with her card and just bloody stuck behind her! There's a car in the other lane so I can't get out and just have to sit and wait for her to pump her fuel and fuck about in her car before I can leave.

AIBU to think you don't block someone in who got there before you?!

I know it's small and I was only waiting a few minutes. But she saved herself seconds. I'm so sick of my life being full of people who are happy to inconvenience me to save themselves a fraction of that inconvenience. I genuinely don't even know how I'm still running, my body is killing me, my C section is painful the entire time I'm in the car and I just wanted to quickly grab some fuel.

YANBU rude, she should have just waited or used a free pump.

YABU use what pump you want even if you block someone else in.

OP, come on, stop putting yourself to the bottom of the pile. You must make time to seek medical help. You don't deserve to be in pain and it won't do your son any good to have a mum who is suffering more than she has to.

CaptainThe95thRifles · 28/01/2022 13:35

She wouldn't necessarily have known you'd used the pay at the pump facility and weren't planning on going into the shop and spending an eternity buying stuff in there, which could've held her up for much longer.

I also don't know why you didn't reverse out and leave when you were done.

Itsalmostanaccessory · 28/01/2022 13:36

You need to seek medical help, today or tomorrow. You absolutely need to. Whatever else you have on needs to be cancelled and you go and get seen.

HeadToToesNo · 28/01/2022 13:36

The pump situation was fine but please go to the doctor and stop being a martyr - your c section scar is the problem and that is probably what's making you feel grumpy about other stuff.

PurpleCarpets · 28/01/2022 13:37

If I'm understanding you correctly, whatever happened one of the two of you would have to wait for the other to finish with the filling process and move out the way. Doing it her way makes more efficient use of the pumps - there will be greater throughput of vehicles, and smaller queues building up. So her way is better.

Traumdeuter · 28/01/2022 13:37

This. You are not too busy for this; or if you are, you need to call in a favour with work, a friend, family, a kind stranger or whatever is preventing you from getting medical help, and get it sorted.
Iheartmysmart · 28/01/2022 13:38

If it helps OP I had someone do that to me at the petrol station earlier but what they didn’t realise was the pump in front of me was broken which is why I hadn’t pulled forward to use it. They had to drive out of the petrol station and rejoin the queue which by then was considerably longer.

But you really do need to get your section scar looked at. I know it’s difficult when you have a little one and never seem to get a minute to do anything but you need to take care of yourself.

Yuckypretty · 28/01/2022 13:41

Don't have time to faff about getting myself to the doctors though.

You need to make time then.

ChikaCherryCola · 28/01/2022 13:41

I think YABU I'm afraid. But we're all pretty unreasonable when we're run ragged, tired and in pain Sad I echo what other people have said about getting yourself checked out.

With regards to the situation, I don't think the other woman did anything wrong. She went to a free pump. I would have done the same and I wouldn't have thought anything of it if someone else did it.

Look after yourself Flowers

KilmordenCastle · 28/01/2022 13:41

8 month, it definitely needs looking at, the cut is still red and swollen and everything from there to my belly button level is painful to put pressure on. I have not had a minutes rest since he was born, I'm amazed it's still closed tbh.
Don't have time to faff about getting myself to the doctors though

FGS stop being a martyr and get yourself to the GP! This sounds bad, you need to get it looked at ASAP. When you're not in constant pain you will be a lot happier and petrol station niggles will wash over you Grin

QuiteAtALoss · 28/01/2022 13:45

I have nothing to add about the petrol station but am worried about your scar. Its not faffing about to get an abdominal wound checked!

daimbarsatemydogsbone · 28/01/2022 13:45

Not getting where the fireguard fits in here - does the filling station sell them?

MargotsBumpyNight · 28/01/2022 13:46

OP you sound exhausted and stretched to the limit Flowers Please get your section looked at as being poorly definitely won't help. We have all been that exhausted, touched out parent, and that part will get better. But your section scar won't on its own and you shouldn't be in pain. The first act of putting yourself first should be getting it looked at

PiesNotGuys · 28/01/2022 13:48

If you have time to buy a fireguard and time to fill the car with petrol you have time to make a doctors appointment.

Ask your DS if he’d like you to be in pain. I know he can’t answer yet but of course the answer would be no. How are you managing with normal life if you are pain when you are sitting? Eg lifting carrying, using the baby carrier, running round after baby?

Please prioritise your health OP.

CounsellorTroi · 28/01/2022 13:49

@BusterGonad

I thought most Garages have enough room in between pumps when in use, for cars to go when they're done?
It depends on the size of vehicle and how people have parked.
Sausagesausagesausage · 28/01/2022 13:52

Couldn't you have reversed back and then gone down the middle of the next row of pumps (presuming that's what she did)

Regardless you need to get your section looked at. Your health is really important.

OvertheRainbow2U · 28/01/2022 13:53

forget pump shit - get to gp or practice nurse OP and get checked out. YOU are important

Jojibear · 28/01/2022 13:57

You can take the baby with you and get your wound seen to. I hope you feel better soon, it can be very overwhelming and stressful with a baby and things like this can tip you over the edge in a way they wouldn't have before.

On a lighter note, my childish humour did find you calling filling up 'pumping' very funny Smile

LakeShoreD · 28/01/2022 13:58

If you have time to post on here about the goings on at the petrol station (fwiw I don’t think the lady did anything wrong) then you have time to make a doctors appointment. Sorry if that sounds blunt but what you describe with your section really isn’t right and you need to see a doctor ASAP. I know it’s tough with a baby and it’s easy to lose yourself but you and your health are important.

Babdoc · 28/01/2022 13:59

OP, your wound sounds infected. You are at risk of 1) potentially life threatening sepsis, and
2) wound dehiscence - where the whole thing gives way and you will be sitting with your intestines in your lap, requiring surgical resuturing as an emergency.
Get yourself to the doctor asap. You need examined.

Ohmybod · 28/01/2022 14:02

@Yuckypretty

*Don't have time to faff about getting myself to the doctors though.*

^^ this.

Don’t even a martyr. It’s all getting too much, resentment is building and you risk taking it out unfairly on other people.

It’s shit and hard and none of know what (lack of?) support system you have got. But your reaction to this screams that you need to slow down and look after yourself.

Nevilleslongbottom · 28/01/2022 14:02

This is so weird.

You seem to think the world revolves around you and your precious DC (waiting is part of getting petrol YABVU) but you can’t find time to seek out get what sounds like a serious issue.

The fire guard could have waited another day and you could have gone to the doctors.

Auntieobem · 28/01/2022 14:02

How did she get past you to get to the pump in front? That's what you should have done to get past her.

Gingercatlover · 28/01/2022 14:05

YABU
You expect her to wait but you can't?

user68396930 · 28/01/2022 14:07

@Getyourjinglebellsinarow

I think YABU but I also completely agree with you and would feel the same

I am also on the brink and I could feel your frustration as if it was my own.

I hope you make time to get your c section scar looked at, and I hope you get some rest and find a bit of time for yourself, although I know it's impossible Thanks
