To ask how much annual leave you get.

Been offered a new job with a slight pay rise and a promotion but it is less annual leave with no option to buy more leave. The new job will be more stress and I am worried the lesser leave will add to the stress.

…Though I am amazed at everyone else’s

SymbollocksInteractionism · 27/01/2022 22:36

40 days in total

Cheshiresun · 27/01/2022 22:37

33 days + Bank Holidays. Usually take 4 weeks Parental Leave though too, which if you can afford it is useful.

mdinbc · 27/01/2022 22:38

You all have a lot of vacation time! What you don't say is how long you have been in your jobs.

Most entry level jobs here in Canada start with 2 weeks paid vacation, and work your way up to more after 5 years.

I currently get 28 days, but that is counted in 7 day blocks even though I work 5 days a week. So i earn 4 weeks.

ClumsyClaret · 27/01/2022 22:38

@gamerchick

What we get doesnt matter though does it? I get 4 weeks including bank holidays. It's enough. It apparently isn't for some.

You have to weigh up whether it's worth it or not.

That's not legal - for full time staff, the legal minimum is 4 weeks plus bank holidays.
Uncurtailed · 27/01/2022 22:38

6 weeks + public holidays.

ghostyslovesheets · 27/01/2022 22:40

35+ bank holidays but I purchase 10 of those

Movelikewater · 27/01/2022 22:41

Not including BHs I get 42, so 50 with BHs. I’ve got a fairly long length of service (10 yrs), but a new starter gets the same. Many can’t/don’t take the full amount, which works out fine as it’s generous.

HauntedPencil · 27/01/2022 22:41

30 plus bank holidays and they are import st to me as I like to take some time off in the school holidays

Asdf12345 · 27/01/2022 22:42

Not sure but a culture in which we don’t take it, or take very little.

elrider · 27/01/2022 22:43

24 days plus bank holidays, if full time. 5 days of that is used up in a compulsory closure between Christmas and New Year, so 19 days of choice really. (I only get a portion of this in reality as I'm part time.)

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 27/01/2022 22:43

30 days plus bank holidays, and an additional fixed day

FrownedUpon · 27/01/2022 22:44

35 days & bank holidays

DillDanding · 27/01/2022 22:46

33 plus bank hols. Plus 13 flexi days per year. Too much - I struggle to take it.

SarahProblem · 27/01/2022 22:47

35 + bank hols + Christmas closure which is usually from 24th - first working day in Jan. (Was the 4th this year)

gamerchick · 27/01/2022 22:48

That's not legal - for full time staff, the legal minimum is 4 weeks plus bank holidays

Yes I posted below correcting it. Thankyou.

Reading these threads, I now know why my boss seems to get tons. Proper rip off for us minions.

PiesNotGuys · 27/01/2022 22:49

Unlimited leave, because self employed.

Of course, unlimited actually means it’s rare.

I took seven days of holiday last year.

QforCucumber · 27/01/2022 22:52

Ask for more?

I get 25+bh, it’s enough but a couple more would be nice.

Negotiate before accepting, I told a friend to do this and she’s the only person in their business who gets 25+bh instead of 20+bh. Costs the business the same salary they were advertising and they really wanted her.

waitingpatientlyforspring · 27/01/2022 22:54

31 days plus bank holidays. I left a job where I got two more days. I don't regret it.

JurgensCakeBabyJesus · 27/01/2022 22:54

33 days, plus bank holidays. Plus a bonus day for the Queen's Quern's birthday to be taken a month either side of the official day.

Nogoodusername · 27/01/2022 22:55

33 (which includes Christmas Office closure) and bank holidays on top of that

FAQs · 27/01/2022 22:55

Also self employed. Tend to work 3/4 days a week but I can work from anywhere inc if I go away for a week, and work flexi hours whilst away.

mrsfollowill · 27/01/2022 22:55

33 days (standard is 28 but 5 days extra after 10yrs service) plus 8 bank hols and 13 flexi days also. Although you have to work the extra hours up in advance for the flexi days- so 54 days I suppose. We have to use 3 days in between Christmas and New Year. The leave is the only 'perk' of the job- work for a Local Authority- it is sure not the salary!
As minimum wages increases we now have staff leaving to work at supermarkets and being cleaners as it is a tiny paycut for a much less stressful job. When you have been screamed at down the phone or face to face every day for 30 odd years and told 'I pay your wages' by Mr Smith who has not worked for the past 20 years it is a relief to be honest! Bitter Grin you bet! Grin I'm hanging in there for my 'golden plated pension' as the DM would say! apologies for the rant but I don't want someone to come along and tell me I'm #blessed with those holidays!

EmmaGrundyForPM · 27/01/2022 22:56

29 days (plus BHs) but 3 of the days have to be taken over Christmas. I got an extra day when I'd been in post for 5 years, if I stay until I've been in post 10 years I get another day. I've also got a work pattern that means I do a 9 day fortnight.

HikingforScenery · 27/01/2022 22:57

28 (33 after 5 years of service) plus bank holidays
