Most overrated destination you’ve visited?

For me, it was Paris. Not an AIBU, I know

Centerparcs. We'd have enjoyed a week at home a lot more.

Amsterdam - seedy and grubby. Museums were overpriced and over crowded. Full of Brits getting stoned.

Mauritius. Thought it would be full of brilliant snorkelling and a relaxing break, but it’s full of stray dogs some of which had been abused so it was a bit shit. Snorkelling was rubbish too, I wish I’d not bothered going.

@ Northampton is a bit of a dump. Has anyone anywhere ever rated Northampton?

I thought the same about the person saying Blackpool, not sure where they got their high hopes from!

I've been to a lot of the places mentioned and enjoyed them.
The only one I'd avoid is Amsterdam. I love the Netherlands in general though. Much rather go to Haarlem, Groningen, Utrecht or Valkenburg than Amsterdam

Dublin. Why do all the bars smell so strongly of bleach?

I thought Lisbon was wonderful. Such good vibes there. Also Barcelona. Malaga is a surprisingly nice city.

I dislike Marbella although the old town is beautiful.

And I'm afraid I find the Cotswolds dull and vaguely oppressive. Muddy and twee!

Cotswolds also. A few pretty villages but nothing that great. Like Oxford, I think it gets put on the international tourists itinery because it's only an hour from London and they only have limited time.

Also, Dubai is awful, I can’t understand who would go there willingly, for fun, but that wasn’t a surprise so not overrated

Paris, Dublin, San Francisco, Cornwall, but loved Befast, NYC, Vegas, Bahamas.

The Shambles in York is very underwhelming. Far too many people and a £10 a cup tea room right beside a Pound land.

I loved Belfast and also Amsterdam was fabulous

I can’t believe nobody has said Orlando. It’s truly a hellhole in every sense of the word

Love New York and I was pleasantly blown away by Miami

I think Pompeii is really beautiful and thought provoking. Good to go when quiet. Herculaneum I prefer.

I wonder if everyone saying these places are dirty have rosy specs on about where they live. I live pretty close to central London. Went on holiday to Tenerife and the place was so clean, when I got home I realised how very dirty and grim my home place actually is!! Rubbish and vomit everywhere. But I love it still.
