Is true?

Really!

They all look so immaculate and you’re not telling me that it only take them 30 minutes to achieve this, both sexes!

Lighthearted, no deep and meaningful debate Grin

If anyone has any insider info this would be interesting to add to the thread!

I know someone who did well on the programme. She said that the call is genuine. What they don’t include though is the hour it takes to mike everyone up and sound check them before they leave, or the time it takes them to eat breakfast.

She said the girls tended to shower the night before and sleep in rollers so they could meet the time constraint in the morning.

Glugglejug · 28/01/2022 18:15

The main thing about the apprentice that I want to know is why do they actually stay in the massive mansion but all sleep in the same room ? I know it’s because it’s easier to film them frantically getting ready all together but I would rather die than sleep in a dormitory with my colleagues. There’s not enough money in the world, let alone doing it for £250,000!

Mummadeze · 28/01/2022 18:16

Always loved it, still love it, don’t care if it is silly. It always gets better throughout the series when the odd balls and unsavvy ones start to go.

Celia66 · 28/01/2022 18:17

Someone posted a clip on here recently of James Max and Saira in an early series. It reminded me of just how good it was in the early days.
It's a load of nonsense now but I still watch it.

iklboo · 28/01/2022 18:21

I always used to think 'Surely these high flying adored Job In The City types have got some actual common sense? Nobody can be that obtuse / dense, can they?'

gorseinon28 · 28/01/2022 18:22

The Apprentice is not a show I watch and have not done so for years. @Wendybyrdesmissingconscience I believe, though it will not make me watch something that I think is well past its sell by date.

UndertheCedartree · 28/01/2022 18:27

I always think this. And when they go round waking them they don't start running to the shower or anything. I mean how many showers are there? Can they all really get showered in 30 min when there's loads of them at the beginning? And yes, the hair and makeup...would take me hours!! I mean I can get out the house in 30 min if I really need to...but I look like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards! Grin

DrSbaitso · 28/01/2022 18:28

I know the filming schedule is tight, but do they get any kind of break between tasks? The days must be so long, it's all exhausting, how can they maintain it with no breaks at all?

Exhausteddog · 28/01/2022 18:34

I'm always surprised at how excited they are at the "treats" Lord sugar "lays on" for them. Confused A couple of weeks ago the girls went to a fancy patisserie. If they were as successful and high flying as they claim surely they can afford to go for a fancy afternoon tea quite regularly ? unless they have no friends to go with

SunflowerSmith · 28/01/2022 18:36

I really like it, I do think however that Alan Sugar has a pretty good idea who will be the winner from day one based on how much he likes their business ideas.

Some weeks he clearly keeps the worst performer on that particular task and someone who did much better gets fired.

I haven't seen last night's show yet but couldn't believe that in week 2 they did a green and brown turd wand after getting slated for a green and brown turd logo on the previous week!

DrSbaitso · 28/01/2022 18:42

16 years of the show were worth it for that logo alone.

I mean, what is this? I can imagine Salvador Dali running in terror from it.

ThinWomansBrain · 28/01/2022 18:45

Immaculate?
Most of the women have more make up on than anyone working on a cosmetics counter in Selfridges, and have fried their hair to death with straighteners.

And why do they always have one half team go off to develop the product, and the other twats create the "brand" advertising whatsoever - and they never have a single conversation during the process to share whatever crap each team has done - then act surprised that neither pile of shit remotely resembles the other Hmm

Although with the team that kept creating brown and green logos that looked like turds every week, maybe it should have been less of a surprise...

Socialcarenope · 28/01/2022 18:49

Without kids to sort out I'd very easily get myself fully ready in 30 minutes. But I'm a morning person, I wake up and I'm ready to go.

Fearnecuptea · 28/01/2022 18:53

We saw an episode recently only as we were watching something else and iPlayer randonly started playing apprentice once it has finished.

That program is hilarious. Like, absolute belly laugh hilarious. I was not expecting that.

The contestants are all ridiculous. The zoom in on frowning facial expressions, really gross OTT egos, no-one with even a smidge of self awareness, charm or warmth. The clothes (90's powersuits). "Men vs woman" teams. Crap ideas. Alan Sugars dad jokes.

Kindof think im hooked now.

DePfeffoff · 28/01/2022 18:57

Presumably because of Covid, this year most of the tasks seem very samey - basically think of a product/business idea, produce some packaging/publicity, do a presentation. At least last night's with the fishing involved a bit more.

I think that what gets to me is that it's all so artificial and doesn't give any sort of realistic picture. In the real world, you would never in a million years create a product from scratch one day and aim to get it ready for the market by the next day, and you would have actual professional designers doing the adverts, not some idiot who's never done it before in his life. When they go to see people like wholesalers and people in shops, it is obviously all an act as the shopkeeper can't help but notice that they're being followed by a camera and soundman and Karen is in the corner making faces. And when they pitch to businesses, those "sales" are totally fictional and I don't believe for one moment that they really would order the products in question.

Oh my God, really?

Shopaholic100 · 28/01/2022 19:07

Does anyone know how they fit everything into those small cabin bags? Or do they have a huge suitcase with the rest of their belongings? I need a bigger bag when I go away for a weekend!

RoseRedRoseBlue · 28/01/2022 19:10

@DrSbaitso 😂😂😂

gogohm · 28/01/2022 19:13

One of the previous winners said the girls used to wake when they heard the crew arrive downstairs as they were above the door, they didn't wake the boys!

gogohm · 28/01/2022 19:14

@Hoolihan my 20 year old dd wears bodycon dresses. They are a thing still

The taxi entry scenes are filmed in advance of any firings. I guess the bigger cases are already in the cars.

Unless someone's managed to invent a Mary Poppins/Hermione Granger magical bag, in which case why isn't Lord Sugar funding THAT business??

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 28/01/2022 19:27

I feel like they've changed the premise to make the tasks virtually impossible and too complicated to achieve in the time available ....and why do they not work as a team for most of it? Half of the team are selling or marketing something they haven't seen/tasted/know anything about!!

It's basically set up for failure to make it more entertaining when things go wrong.

That's it in a nutshell. If they genuinely wanted to find the best person to do the best job, they would give them a reasonable timescale in which to do it. There's no reason in the world why they couldn't film it in advance and give them a couple of weeks or so for a reasonable chance to see each task through.

You know that old party game where everybody sits in a circle and throws a die, then when you get a six, you have to put on a coat and scarf etc and then frantically eat as much chocolate as you can - with a knife and fork - before the next person (inevitably very soon) throws a six and ousts you to get their go?

Well, this is the TV equivalent of that - all planned: in exactly the same way as the players of the chocolate game don't tend to end up the most stylishly dressed and accessorised and nicely satiated with elegantly-consumed chocolate Grin

DukeofEarlGrey · 28/01/2022 19:33

@HasaDigaEebowai

I have a friend who was involved and sayd those segments are all filmed multiple times
Yes, they also film the shot of each one 'losing' and doing the walk of shame to the taxi in on Day One. That's why they all wear scarves - so that it doesn't matter what they are wearing when they actually leave because it won't affect continuity.

Why do I know these things?!

DukeofEarlGrey · 28/01/2022 19:36

@Adatwistscientist

I never understood why the call receiver tells the others. Surely if it's a competition, you put the phone down quietly, go and get ready and don't tell anyone what's happening Grin
Evil genius Grin
DePfeffoff · 28/01/2022 19:55

When Sugar said last night that it was the worst failure ever, he wasn't right, was he? I'm sure he's had some when it's not just a question of not making money, they actually managed to lose it.
