Is true?

Really!

They all look so immaculate and you’re not telling me that it only take them 30 minutes to achieve this, both sexes!

Lighthearted, no deep and meaningful debate Grin

If anyone has any insider info this would be interesting to add to the thread!

One of the guys from the show said in an interview that they would try to find out from the crew what time they were expecting things to start up on the morning, then the girls would set alarms for a good hour beforehand so they could get a head start on the wake-up call.

MrsMagenta · 27/01/2022 21:20

@malmi that sounds a bit more believable.

God yes!! This always irritates me. I'm sure in one series it was "the cars will be there in 20 mins" then they'd go round and wake everyone up. I need a poo, coffee, breakfast, let alone to shower, do make up, etc

LactoseTheIntolerant · 27/01/2022 21:37

I think this every single episode! I mean it doesn't keep me awake at night.. but still they clearly need longer than 30 minutes to put that amount of slap on, go for their morning dump etc.

burnthur5t · 27/01/2022 21:38

I've always said it's total BS

The amount of makeup on most of the women's faces would take at least three hours to put on, it's about an inch thick, not forgetting hair, breakfast etc

marqueses · 27/01/2022 21:42

I heard an interview with one of the previous contestanst who explained that they say "the cars will be there in 30 minutes" which is very much not the same as "you must be ready to get in those cars and drive away in 30 minutes" Grin

that's what I understood too!
HelloFrostyMorning · 27/01/2022 23:01

Yep, it's obviously a load of crap, but it's all farcical pantomime. I haven't been watching it and I didn't watch it last year, because it's all staged and fake, and has the same ridiculous arseholes as contestants. I loathe the show now.

It needs to die and be buried at the bottom of the Atlantic, and it can take that awful Masked Singer AND Masked Dancer with it, and also Strictly Come Dancing. Strictly is a pile of steaming horseshit now. Boring as fuck, and dragged out soooooo much every week. Even Dancing On ice is quite dull now.

That’s exactly what i said to dh last week

I have a friend who was involved and sayd those segments are all filmed multiple times

But it was always like this really, and that’s the whole fun of it! There’s also something weirdly comforting about the fact that you know the women will be wearing the same bodycon dresses in primary colours year after bloody year Grin

I can’t stand it any more - it used to be compulsive viewing but now it’s just cringey.

This. ^ In spades.

I've always assumed they set their alarms on task days for really early and then the call isn't to wake anyone up, just telling them the cars are coming.

Where do they all buy these body-con dresses? There must be a hidden shop for apprentice candidates and newsreaders!
EmmaH2022 · 27/01/2022 23:19

I watched a couple of early seasons, including with the late and hilarious Stuart "the brand" Baggs.

It was fun a couple of seasons but I am surprised the format has lasted so long. Stuff like "it's a pizza that's been segmented" was funny for a while but not 15 years...unless it's anew audience every time.

It is alarmingly similar to workplaces.

FFSjustLTB · 27/01/2022 23:20

I am giving up on this programme now . All the childish puns tonight just took it too far into pantomime for me. It's ridiculous. Oh yes it is.

So the cars and drivers will wait for you as long as necessary, but you still need to get in there quickly if you want to call shotgun Grin

What's with the 4 o'clock thing, though? Previously, it's been between 6 and 7am, which is getting a good early start in the day; but 4am is basically the middle of the night. How is it supposedly more virtuous to be up and ready for 4am?!

I think it's the filming schedule - is it 12 weeks filmed in 3 or 4? So they have to pack in a lot of filming.

High time for Sir Alan to set them the task of coming up with some new business frock designs!

Or new suit designs
scaredsadandstuck · 27/01/2022 23:29

This season it looks like the outfits are all coordinated. Tonight there were two women wearing the same dress just in different colours.

Yes, especially given it's pitch black when the call comes but broad daylight when they actually get in the cars...

That sounds very frantic. You'd think that doing it that way would leave the contestants permanently exhausted and even more liable to do mad, incompetent things that would leave them looking utterly stupid on the screen and make for fantastically entertaining point-and-mock telly. Ohhhhhh...... Grin
