Are Covid numbers MUCH higher than they seem.

Myself and DH have done LFT And PCR and we have Covid.
When talking to others who have had positive LFT ‘s , I am amazed how few people are reporting the results , and very few are taking PCR’s.
This obviously means that the numbers that are reported daily are not correct, snd in fact I reckon the numbers might be nearer double what is reported.
So , given that MNet’s a cross section - if you’ve had it did you report it snd become one of the reported figures ?

Yes?
No?

@SeeminglyOblivious

DH and I recently had covid and had pcrs.

Ds3 is 4 and tested positive on LFT a few days later. We didn't bother taking him for a PCR.

I know lots of others the same, especially with dc. I wouldn't be surprised if the actual number of covid invections is double what's reported.

You can just register the LFT.

I report lateral flows as I do them for work (healthcare). There is the suggestion that soon isolation will be scrapped in which case I think most people will no longer test unless for work or they need it for something specific like a hospital appointment. Hence the suggestion that they were going to start charging for LF tests. We will just have to hope that omicron or a similar milder variant stays the dominant strain.

I've just registered all our positives LFTs. They they direct you to a link to fill in the details about contacts. I did most of this online, but didn't finish the forms. Test and trade phoned and it took about 2 minutes to complete.

I certainly don't care 🤷‍♀️ just go about your business with whatever mitigations your want to impose upon yourself.

We've not been positive yet. If/when we are we would likely do what we are supposed to do in terms of taking PCRs/logging LFTs but I would have to look up what that is because I haven't got a clue. The kids used to log their negative LFTs but none of us have done that for a long time now. I would want to do what we are supposed to do if positive but I can totally see people not bothering

Wrongkindofovercoat · 27/01/2022 09:05

So do I. Presumably people can't be bothered

If there is a way of doing it without using a mobile phone at all, I will have a go.

I normally use a laptop to log mine , although I've used a mobile phone a couple of times.

Was sat here wondering the same thing. I reported because I have to due to the type of work I do but most people I know haven't.

WanderingLost167 · 27/01/2022 10:44

You don't need to get a follow up PCR any more, which is good as frankly what's the point.. DS had Covid last week, followed protocol, retested at 5 days, had two negatives

As I am doing, thank you.
