Not to change the sheets??

Mooghulempress · 25/01/2022 16:29

Next week my parents are coming to stay for a night, so I’ve just cleaned the guest room sheets and made the bed fresh for them. Two days later, we are having a dinner party and a friend has just asked if she and her partner can stay over. AIBU to think that it’s OK not to change the sheets?? It just seems insane to change the sheets after one use, and both my parents shower before bed. But part of me also thinks this isn’t OK. Advice please!

That's gross. Change the sheets. How would you feel?

PrincessPaws · 25/01/2022 18:07

That is gross and unhygienic. I caught a fungal skin infection because a 'friend' thought the same and both I and the other person (a friend of my friend who stayed the night before) had slept with a vest top on - it wasn't until a later night out when I say the same discoloured patches over her chest that I realised where I had caught it 🤢

CandyMan89 · 25/01/2022 18:09

If a hotel did this you'd be ranging. Change the sheets.

CandyMan89 · 25/01/2022 18:09

Raging

Dazzylazzy · 25/01/2022 18:13

You can’t leave the sheets! I’ve done it when my sister stayed for 1 night and was due back the following week but if anyone was due in between her visits I’d have changed them!!

Haveyoubrushedyourteethtoday · 25/01/2022 18:15

It’s not yuck,, or gross really. Not when you think about it. Still, I wouldn’t do it, and I’d expect fresh sheets, as a visitor..

Nsky · 25/01/2022 18:18

They may have all kinds of disgusting habits unseen, quick wash at 60, will sort

Whydothat · 25/01/2022 18:19

Ewwww. YABVVVVVVVVVVVVU

Amoozbooze · 25/01/2022 18:23

If there wasn't any shagging I'd have a quick check for stains and hairs and leave them.

Aurea · 25/01/2022 18:29

I once stayed in an unchanged bed at my in laws who had a male guest the previous night.

They asked if I minded if they don't change the sheets and I felt
I couldn't say no.

It was foul. He obviously hadn't showered and slept with his armpits over the bed sheet as they stank of BO.
🤮

YABU change them

christingle2 · 25/01/2022 18:31

Haha I mean I wouldn’t be happy about that if I was staying with someone so probably for the best to change them

rookiemere · 25/01/2022 18:35

YABU - it would be different if it was the same visitors coming again, my SIL comes to stay quite often just for a night, so I'll change the sheets every third visit or so, but not for different people.

I once didn't change the sheets for a new visitor on the advice of my DM and I still regret it.

PolytheneRam · 25/01/2022 18:37

Wouldn't bother me in the slightest. Mumsnet is an odd place sometimes.

Stick some Febreze on it, I say!

Somethingsnappy · 25/01/2022 18:40

In case there is any uncertainty after reading these responses OP, the concensus is YABU Grin

Ninkanink · 25/01/2022 18:43

Oh no you definitely need to change the sheets!! Come on now...surely you can’t think it’s perfectly okay to offer your friends a bed that’s not freshly dressed for them.

Rosebuud · 25/01/2022 18:48

Oh that’s quite a dirty thing to do, you need to give guests fresh sheets.

VioletOcean · 25/01/2022 19:32

Change the sheets! Would you want to sleep in a bed where some other people had slept on the same sheets

Vanillacronut · 25/01/2022 19:44

Yes, pretty disgusting not to change them I’m afraid. My in laws did this with us and I felt really repulsed by it!

antwacky · 25/01/2022 19:53

YABVU
Urgh!

BigYellowHat · 25/01/2022 19:57

It’s gross. It’s not exactly hard work to change a bed is it? How would you like to sleep in a bed that strangers (to you) had slept in?

FelicityBob · 25/01/2022 19:58

I wouldn’t change them OP Grin
If they look clean then it’s fine

greenlynx · 25/01/2022 19:59

I was visiting a friend once (25 years ago), she mentioned that she didn’t change sheets as her sister only slept once on them last night. She did gave me a fresh pillowcase. I couldn’t said anything, she’s got a small baby and I felt really awkward that I was creating hassle for her but I couldn’t sleep tbh and however stupid it seems it’s affected our relationship. I can’t respect people who does this, I just can’t. I don’t invite guests to my house if I can’t behave as a proper host.

SituationCritical · 25/01/2022 19:59

Envy (not envy)
Grim! I don't want to sleep on the same sheets that someone has shagged on/dribbled on/had their naked arse splayed on. Pillow cases will have had someone's face pressed on them all night with skin dander, oils and saliva. Please do change them, it's gross not to.

DepthOfTheAbyss · 25/01/2022 20:05

You need to change them. Would you like it if your friend did the same to you?
I’d be disgusted.
